Anddromeda will probably be like that, exploring planets likei ME1 , with the MAKO. And that's kinda open world. Then you can change planets just like you change maps in DA:I

Dunno exactly why, but I would guess that they are freaking out because DA:I was also dubbed "open world", needless to say, a ton of people found the world too opened and filled with, well, feeler content

After  inquisition I think when people hear bioware say exploration they hear  collectathon and not real content like sidequests and such.

Fort me it's because I don't like open world games. I find them to have an unfocused and compromised story, grindy, and the gameplay tends to be poor. I didn't really like ME1 that much, maybe a 7/10 game, only really good aspect was the story.

I think if we have a couple decent hub spaces like the ME1 Citadel, filled with lots of interesting quests, people won't be too bothered by big open planet spaces.
