I came to ME after the last piece of ME3 DLC had been released. It's always daunting to join a new community that's been going on as long as these forums had been, when everything is new to you and old hat to everyone else. This thread helped me find my footing. I'll miss sharing in the excitement that each tweet could potentially bring and I wish I could experience the release of ME:A with you all. to everyone.

The main thing is getting us all to go there and to keep going there. We need to pick one and make that the one, if we want any semblance of the BSN community to continue.

You've hit the nail on the head. Though I fear there will be a split between those who choose twitter or reddit, or just ignore everything. I doubt everyone will go to the same place

The BioWare forums are where I truly became “a fan”. It’s where I was able to interact with other fans, share ideas, be kept informed on game development, and form a deeper love with BioWare products. I’ll put it this way: without the forums having been there, there probably wouldn’t be a BioFan today. I’m very disappointed in the decision to close down the forums. Sure there are other social media platforms for fans, but none that quite offered the same level of organized development information or longer-term common interest discussion. If fans wanted to get together to share their love/ideas/theories/etc for a character (like Cullen for example) the forums offered a great venue to discuss the character over a longer period of time. The forums served, for many, as an easy medium to navigate and learn details about upcoming games they were interested in. Other social media outlets offer this, but in a much more limited or time sensitive manner. While the developers themselves may not visit the forums often, it is a well-used venue for the BioWare community.

Sooo...what was the point of creating a Mass Effect Andromeda forum if your just going to close the entire forums down later (especially since it hasn't been released yet)? I'm sure things change and I hope BioWare gets smart and changes their tune or creates an entirely new forum. So, I suppose we should have seen this coming considering they shut down the Off-Topic forum a while ago for no good reason.

It's really heavily moderated. To the point where "mass effect fan art" shuffles to the top and you really have to dig around for an eternity to find anything in terms of information. It's nothing like this.

I dont tweetneverbeen to facebook this is the only forum i belong to. Yesmost of the threads are crap but there are good ones and good people here. People here have given me alot of support in my fight with cancer i wanted to wait to i was cancer free to share this but in the last 2 months ive went from more spots on my liver than they could count to 8. My wife doesnt have to worry anymore thatshewill wake up and find me dead anymore.
Let this be a lesson never give up never listen to a doctor that tells you that you have 6 months to a year to live. I may bend buti will not break i may falter but i will not fall! You know, I have never, ever, ever been snarky to a BioWare employee. Quite the opposite; I have always loved and respected you guys. And I still love you guys. So, I'm going to try and be as respectful with this as possible.

 

But why in the world does it even matter if we stay on-topic anywhere anymore when the forums are being nuked in roughly 3 months? This is like telling people to form an orderly queue for the restroom while the ship is sinking.

 

At this point, my opinion is that folks should be able to start exchanging contact info and be able to formulate a plan of evacuation to another forum wherever it makes sense to them. The Twitter thread gets a lot of traffic, so if it's gonna go bye-bye soon, it makes sense that the people here would want to strategize how to take ourselves elsewhere before the nuke is launched.

I'm not too surprised.  None of the announcements are made here on these forums.  I was curious why BW even had forums.

 

Still, I prefer the rules and moderation of other sites (like that of reddit) for information regarding games.  Might not be a great site for gathering and talking about random stuff, but I love the information available on those sites.  The ME3 multiplayer forum is great for builds and stats.

 

I think the main reason I even just came to this site was to catch info posted to social media since I don't have any accounts for any of those sites.  (e.g. twitter, facebook)

 

Just look on the bright side, soon you won't have to read those constant negative posts or those outrageous posts!

 

Anyway, thanks to those that ran this twitter thread.  I really did appreciate all those posts of tweets.

Oh, Good Gracious, this "killing the forum" **** is just plain ****. Ban me all you want, but slicing a comprehensive place in which users can post stuff about a franchise they love is not only cynical but also deviously vile.

 

The post states that they have sooo many places were they interact with fans. all the PAX the SDCC and what not. well some of you fanbase is located in the rear end of the world with no possibilities as to buy airfare for those events.

 

Some of us don't use Facebook, nor Twitter, nor Reddit,, and even if we did, Bioware's attention to posts in those media is next to none, at least here we could talk to each other.

Ironic how the reason for doing this is because they don't interact enough with fans. So they recommend Twitter which hasn't responded to the tweets about this other than like half a dozen, the last an hour ago. Oh yeah, you are so much more active in the places you recommended.

I was wondering why there were suddenly 30+ comments... not the "surprise" I was expecting. 

 

I just finally decided to start being active around here despite joining over a year ago. That's my luck, though, as soon as I get into something it usually moves on... (So this might be my fault. ) I don't really "internet," I don't have twitter or facebook or tumblr or whatever else and don't belong to other sites because I'm not actually that social, so this thread in particular has been fun. Even so, I liked just hanging out around here. Reading, posting -- nothing too serious because I don't always do serious well.

 

All the rage and lack of faith on here against BioWare has been off-putting, and not everything here has been bunnies and rainbows, but I was still looking forward to the MEA experience with everyone, all the crazy, good or ill, especially since I haven't been around when a game has dropped.

 

If another "forum" like place is created I'd probably give it a try, otherwise I guess that's the end of a BioWare community for me. Just when I was getting to know you...

What a chump move by BW.  I don't care about video games enough to check multiple outlets... visiting here and catching up with a dedicated fanbase was a way to keep 'plugged in' to what BW was up to. 

 

Without these forums, I doubt I would have excitedly pre-ordered  DA:I (and would have been better off for it).

 

Since ME3's release, BW has made a series of very poor PR decisions.  Inexplicable, really. Not sure what their game-plan is, but insulting fans seems to be in their top-5 objectives to accomplish list.
