It's pretty cool there, and similar in many ways (Both in good and bad ways) to BSN. They are usually among the first to post new leaks, information and theories.

What do you mean?
How would you for example go about successfully recreating massive threads like the Twitter threads or the character threads or some long thread debating lore if you were to do it on Reddit? Threads that could go on for months, years even? The very way it's laid out and the upvote/downvote system is counterproductive to fostering the types of discussions you can have on a more traditional style of message board. Reddit works better for shorter discussions and things like "OP posts link -> everybody posts their own reaction/response to OP and then move on" while a board like this allows for more ongoing, evolving discussion as the threads progress, not to mention how neatly organized everything is.
If the DA/ME Reddit pages end up being the new main gathering places, maybe missing out on 50 page threads discussing the ins and outs of Quarian buttholes isn't that great of a loss, but there's a ton of other things that simply won't be the same and probably wouldn't work at all on Reddit.

Well, there's a few things - no long, enduring threads that aren't stickied, no image embeds, a general focus on short-form posts - but the most significant is probably downvotes. Why engage with someone when you can just click a little arrow next to their post?
Reddit stymies discussion by design, since controversial points of view - for a given subreddit - are pretty much guaranteed to be downvoted into oblivion rather than discussed and considered. If your opinion doesn't line-up with the majority, well, there's no point even trying to express it on most subreddits--even if you go to great pains to sound reasonable and open-to-discussion, people'll still just click, click, click away on that downvote arrow.
It's not something that happens to me often, but that doesn't make it any less crippling for discussion; I just deliberately avoid saying anything that's gonna get obliterated by downvotes. It's probably the biggest reason why I don't engage with Reddit nearly as much as I do other discussion forums. And that's speaking as someone who, generally speaking, tries to stick to the non-controversial discussions - cabin decor, for example - anyway! Well, unless something really annoys me.
Don't go dying yet. The forums my be ending but there is still one game coming

Unfortunately, this all dropped in my lap the first day of my vacation, so it's going to be 3 - 4 days before I can really get my head around this. i may not have been as active this couple of weeks but i'll miss checking on this thread and all the familiar faces here! i loved talking and dicussing mass effect with you guys and hopefully we'll do in other platforms

No need to be snarky. Of course I can monitor every BW dev on Twitter but this thread was good because it was the best way to see newsworthy tweets in a curated fashion.
Nope, apparently, having all the information scouted by fans and brought into one central location is not considered a good thing. Instead, they'd rather we monitor six+ different social media sites to learn any new info. Or consult the eye-bleed, holy crap is it 1998 again, screw chronological order and logical long-post discussions and let's have one-liners and upvote/downvote stuff in a confusing manner Reddit.
Which I did sign up for and tried to use tonight. It is awful. I actually got a headache from the formatting after five minutes of use and I will never darken its doors again. THAT is the alternative we are given for forum discussion? No. Just no. I will excommunicate myself from the community entirely before trying to make sense of that site again.
For those who can use it and/or like it, you are saints and 1,000 times superior to me in every conceivable way. I wish you love and good fortune.

Bless your heart. The forums moved over to this site on a day I woke up deathly sick from the flu, and I spent my sick day off work frantically trying to fix the Resource Library because the forum format change had broken all the links. So, I fully feel you on having terrible BioWare forum news pound you at the worst time possible.
Thank you for everything you've done. If you and EP figure something out before the big close, do let me know if I can be of any assistance.
And trust me, I'm not on vacation and it's STILL gonna take me 3-4 days before I can really wrap my head around this either. For the moment, I'm drowning my sorrows in a flow of Southern Comfort. It's only helping minimally.
All the people like yourself Hrungr, biofan, dragon racer and many others that went well out of their way to inform and keep info flowing in the LONG wait between games just got the middle finger. I'd be surprised if any of the key people on these sites ever got nod from bioEAare at all.

Love your description of Reddit, I felt the exact same way when I attempted to view a handful of discussions a couple years ago, trying to check-out 'that Reddit thing' the kids are always talking about. And you summed up my reaction beautifully... it's like an alt-reality 1997 with even WORSE formatting. I don't get the love for it.
Also... left that image/quote in because I've felt BW has been pushing us away ever since the ME3 ending reaction... they've behaved like petulant children ever since they turned away those charity cupcakes that forum members sent them. I wasn't involved in any way with that little mission, but I watched, interested in BW's reaction... and what a pathetic reaction it was. More petty behavior followed, but I've already lost interest while typing. Sad state of affairs for BW.
