Well, well, what we have we here? I leave for a few days and everything goes to hell.

 

Actually, you had to feel this coming. They closed OT, and they've really withdrawn from the forums esp after DAI. The DA team was always much more active and chatty than the ME team, even before ME3 came out. ME devs were never really that involved (except for Jos, ofc). But really it was a big difference between the two.

 

I highly doubt it has anything to do with BSN being too toxic for them. I mean, you guys have seen Twitter, right? BSN is nothing compared to the vitriol thrown around on Twitter. Twitter is a friggin cesspit.  Talk about toxic. Reddit is like the Walmart of forums. Alot of different stuff, but no real character, or soul.  It's all processed.

 

BSN is like that Mom and Pop small business from back in the day. Character. Flavor. Life. Dissent. It may not look like much, but that's where you went to get the best food in town. Apparently, however, BW/EA wants to move to the "suburbs" ?  Nice and quiet. Manicured lawns with a robust Home Owners Association. Comfortably homogeneous.

Wonderful analogy. I have found that the best restaurants are the small ones that only serve one to a few dishes they do exceptionally well (bsn). Once you get to places that serve a myriad of things, well the quality starts to suck (twitter).

The BSN may be closed but I hope it gets replaced by the Andromeda forum and their new secret IP.

 

I still believe the Andromeda game will come out. EA announced the delay in their Investors Day conference.

I don't post very often, but I just wanted to say the the Twitter threads are my favorite threads. I discovered bsn after ME3, and have been here ever sense. I was really looking forward to being here when they started releasing more information about MEA, and discussing it with all of you, or at least reading the discussion because I'm pretty shy. Thank you to BioFan, PCThug, and Hrungr for keeping us updated, and for making me feel welcome when I did post! Also thank you Jos for talking to us, and explaining things to us in here. Hopefully they reopen this place again some time. I'm going to miss the bsn and all its craziness!

But on other (non-official) sites, you can just block anyone who's critical of you.  Making for a nice personal echo chamber.

Yup.  And that is, of course, a great way to make video games!  Don't find out what needs work, what annoyed fans, what's broken or what ppl would like.  Just get a bunch of thumbs up and believe that it's all good.

It's rather difficult to make reasonable, effective criticism in 140 characters. While there might be more criticism on twitter and the like, it will be much easier to ignore...

Yah, it does.  Look at some of the people here who still can't stand the ending of ME3.  Four years after the game was released.  If I have a problem with something for that long, it's no longer a problem.  It's a grudge, or worse it's become hateful seething.

That would be one of the most hilarious marketing errors I've seen in my entire life. I envision an intern stumbling into a board meeting high as a kite going "bruuuhhh, I've got this AMAZING idea for the marketing campaign"
