The magazine isn't available in the US yet it seems... but *shrugs* doesn't seem to be all that exciting.

                                                                                      <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>>

I'll wait until Oct-Nov 2016, for actual meaty ME:A announcements.

Bio is still following some internal protocol to avoid giving out game info at this time frame. And, I really don't mind the tidbits. It's the repetition of  "i'm so excited"  or "dying to show" that now have become stupid as someone up thread mentioned.

We have 2-3 months to go before a real reveal.  In the meantime.....

I really don't think it's about negativity. I think it's more a fear of the rather organized nature of the BSN community.

Scary, isn't it?

And whats so bad about letting people speculate about random things? It doesn't hurt anything, and every one in a while we get a really nice thread out of it. With the "glass it from orbit" method, there will be no more pointless threads, but there will also be no more thought provoking threads.

You're barking to the wrong tree. I wish he would've responded in a similar fashion.

And what do you do at the point where the negativity becomes so overwhelming that it's more than your team of moderators can handle? How many people should be working full-time just on keeping the forums clean? At what point do you decide that it's just too expensive to do it right?

I mean, let's be honest, there are only a few hundred people who post on these forums, and even fewer regulars. At some point you're sinking a lot of money into managing something of dubious value.

What happened is not the Wrath of the Gods. BW let it happen. It lingered and BW didn't do anything about it when it was just a murmur. Now? They are too late. At least that is what they think. What they tried were duct tape solutions. Signs of the cheap way out are all over it. Faceless mods, who were outsourced and outnumbered and had no connection to the games and their contents, sure didn't help. It fueled the fire instead. Shutting down the off-topic forum obviously didn't help. That again fueled the fire. The cheapest method they could dream of, closing the forums, was to be their final solution. BW didn't want to spend any resources on it, because they didn't think the community was important enough. That community, which is oddly enough, according to BW, very valuable, is apparently disposable anyway. So they flushed it down the drain.

The term 'trolling' has become the label for any criticism that doesn't doesn't include a heavily sugar coated outer shell.  Do we all need to kiss ass in order to keep you happy? Are you that concerned with BW 'liking' you?

Trolling is ironically saying something incendiary only to bait a response.  Fishing for flame wars.

Someone being upset, or venting, or voicing an opinion YOU happen to disagree with is NOT trolling.  Saying something negative without 'but I really love you guys, omg you're tots the best xoxo' is not trolling.  It's not toxic.  It's an opinion.   Not everybody is going to have the same one.  Not everyone is going to give voice to their opinion in a way that you'll completely agree with.

I'd go on, but I've lost interest (a common problem for me during internet arguments, I'm afraid).

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that Bioware's definition of "the community" consists of more than just these forums.

If you think that 537,489 members who wrote 20,313,115 posts (I just checked) is nothing to worry about then continue to spread more of that disinformation. You would be mocking yourself. How is that not a community?

So you said nothing that may suggest that the forums are just a part of a larger community. OK then. Thanks for the backpedaling.

Well those numbers don't tell the whole story, since just under half (250,000 or so) of those 537,489 members never posted at all, and only around a fifth (184,000) ever got past one post, 32,000 got more than 50, 22,000 past the 100 mark and only 4000 reached 1000 or more.

And 3,000 of the posters who reached 1,000 or more posts did so in the off topic forums.

Also, 97% of stats are made up on the spot.  But I'm guessing that the numbers are pretty accurate.

Going through the members list and working out how many came before and after the various post counts I mentioned.  Those numbers in my previous post are rounded to the closest 1000, by the way.

Reading these stats, I have to think that there are probably far more Bioware fans posting regularly on the internet outside these forums (Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr) than on them, which is probably why they're being shut down.

It's disappointing that there won't be a central place to have long discussions about their games, and I really don't like Reddit's thread structure, but it's hard to argue that this forum is hugely representative of the wider fanbase.

I did say that, but your reply doesn't make any sense in that context.

(Literally) hair-mance.

To be fair, that one really was just for lols.  :D

"Pointless" threads can also be some good general interaction between fans. Tangents happen in threads anyway. People just like to talk to each other.  :)

I agree.

Though, I have seen blatant mockery and insults towards other members, for both "positive and negative" opinions. Maybe not quite "trolling" because it's just vague enough but still a form of goading and extremely irritating. Sometimes people can't like or dislike something without getting pounced. And frankly, people posting just to say that they hate BioWare and everything they'll produce in the future will suck is just... not constructive in anyway. It's as though they linger only to infect this place with their rage. At least, this is some of what I've seen the short time I've been here.  -_-

What if it isn't Bioware who took the decision to shut down the BSN?

What if it was an order from EA?

Is there any way to confirm which company DID issue that order?

I think the same. :/

With any luck they will made another forum with the release of MEA.

That's a possibility. I did look out and the only EA studio that has a forum is BioWare.

AbilityDrain downloaded the Xbox Magazine UK article and said "it's the same ol' ****, exclusive my arse," and that they quoted a lot of stuff from E3 essentially.

Xbox magazine has always been "iffy" journalism in my experience, but occassionally they give you a nugget of info.

Like back in DAI days, they gave us "Solace". XD
