Or is David Gaider borderline retarded because of the lack of quality in DA2? Christ, it's like we forget he's the dude who wrote Irenicus and was lead writer for Baldur's Gate 2.

David was not the lead writer of BG2. He wasn't even a senior writer at that time (seriously, it was his first game). Nor was he the lead on ToB (but I still blame him for some of it! :P).

Additionally, the issues with DA2 weren't so much with the actual writing. Knowing what he wrote, I'd say he hit it out of the park (yet again), even if the game didn't come together as well as it should have.

Restrider wrote...

So, is it unusual for a DLC to have such a high amount of writers working on it?

To my knowledge, it is, unless they're only coming back to do their characters (I think all the DA2 writers went back for Legacy and MotA, but only to write the banter for the characters they "owned"—Jennifer was the main writer for Legacy, and David for MotA, IIRC).

Not to be a buzzkill, but if this is as massive as it sounds, how is this going to be manageable with that pesky 2gb download limit (unless whatever the DLC is called will be shipped on physical media)?

Also, no one's rebranding this as a new IT (Inclusion Theory, since all 8 writers are working on the same project) yet?

So three different DLC's (mabye) all that are about the same element according to a tweet asking if this was single player. Big day at bioware. Wonder if one of these is the same thing as the one Jos was talking about.

If Bioware is actually taken into consideration and read the fanfics of my faction's different versions of the ending we sent in August, then I'd feel less insulted that they didn't read them in the first place, especially mine.

Oh, here comes the wild speculation. Damn you for making speculating almost as fun as playing your content Bioware! I have no idea what this could be, it's definitely something significant to the story with 8 writers though.... I'm gonna guess and say it's an expansion, but I could be way off.

Whatever it is, I'm looking forward for some more news on it in the future.

It has to be done:

#WakeupShepard.

All it takes to wake up that sleeping beauty of an ending is a special kiss from all of the writers put together.  Let's make it happen Bioware.

I dont suppose we'll get Drew K involved in this or is that wishful thinking?

It's all hands on deck for this one. Pretty much every ME3 DLC writer here in Edmonton is involved. (which would include both Patrick Weekes AND John Dombrow)

Mother of God...

Not to burst the optimistic bubble, but 'involvement' could just be writing a dozen lines for a squadmate interaction on the Normandy, or something. I'd presume writers would write for the character they handled in ME3, given the need to maintain a consistent voice.

We don't know how big the DLC is intended to be, or what it is, or what the writers would even be doing.

(Although I'd love some more text files a la Shadow Broker, they really added some flavour.)

So are you saying voiced squadmates aren't a good thing?

The almighty Karpfather?  I highly doubt he wants anything to do with Mass Effect at the moment.  From what I know he's hard at work on his original book series.  But, if he were to do something about the end, good lord.  I would go insane.

I have no idea how you got that from what I wrote.

Voiced squadmates are great.

We shouldn't assume that 'eight writers are working on DLC' necessarily means it has more content, or is larger. Some or many of those writers could just be writing lines for their particular squadmates in filler or ambient dialogue.

It certainly doesn't imply that the DLC pack is some sort of uber-project that requires all the writers on deck to construct a sixteen-hour-long branching story arc with unicorns and rainbows.

I mean, it could be, but until we know more I'd think it's better not to build speculation to a totally unrealistic degree. The BSN is probably overinvested to begin with, all things considered, and more disappointment because fans took a tweet the wrong way is not something to encourage.

I misread your tone, I thought you were saying something like, "Guys, it's just going to be lame voiced squadmate stuff." instead of what was intended.

Sorry about that.

Due to some comments and fans wishlists I suspect the future dlc will be more character based and less action. The writers write their specific characters - maybe ME2 squad involved - and due to fact it more than general banter its all hands on deck.

Probably wrong but maybe its more Citadel character stuff as after certain point the squad either remained on Normandy - Kaiden - or stood there with nothing new to say - Liara. If next dlc is the Citadel one it could add to this especially Ashley - who even me a always kill her in ME person think her story needs more.

And I hate poker but want working poker table on Normandy would be fun addition.

Maybe they add a new character-specific quest for each one, where you have to help them out with some group or something they had before they even joined your quest when you first got them, similar to the recruitment missions in ME2, and each successful quest gets you those assets, that group, joining your war effort.

I'm sure that if i goes over 2gb they can just split the files into two seperate downloads...
So it's like a DLC pack, buy it both downloads combine and you have 1 massive DLC.

Hm, that could be possible.

Though Sony and MS do have polcies banning DLCs that require other DLCs, which might present a problem.

(That's also one of the reasons a 'puzzle theory' is nonsense, an ending DLC that required all the other DLC first is out of the question)
