Since there are some Devs reading this thread:
Could you post the concept art you have shown us in HQ? Please.
Jos? Barrett? Jo? Pleeeeeeease
You can find good-quality versions on the Mass Effect Facebook page. Hope that helps. ![]()

Or, it's a design decision to not do vehicle combat and focus on the on-foot gunplay.
DAI's system works the same way. Mounts are for exploration, not combat.
ME1's encounters on the uncharted planets were broken precisely because the Mako was so overpowered.
The thought of calling the Mako a mount is pretty funny to me. Makes me think the crew will be riding on the top of it while it gallops with its wheels.
Will that mean... fighting Thresher Maws on foot?
Devs might've been influenced by the amount of YouTube videos showcasing that
I used to do that. Kinda fun (though my squadmates had trouble grasping the advanced tactic of "get out of the way of the giant acidic spray before it hits you"). A friend of mine found it easy, since he played an Adept Bastion and could basically Stasis the Thresher Maw to death.
Ha! Guess my Sole Survivor Engineer Shepard had enough of those beasts to risk fighting them on foot
I like to imagine my Shepard (also Sole Survivor) intended to exorcise her fears by defeating a thresher on foot, and then taking its head to wear as a trophy.
Probably a good thing she didn't succeed: walking around the Presidium would have become a bit socially awkward.
I shot Thresher Maws with the Mako until they were sufficiently weakened, then got out and finished the job on foot, so I could get that boost in experience points. I know what's up with Mass Effect 1 Thresher Maws.
So all this discussion is cool and all, but is probably worth taking into a different dedicated thread. While ME tweets are more infrequent currently, 'tis why this topic is still stickied. :>
While I'm playing and find myself wondering: "hmm, this would be good for NME / No no, this is bad, shouldn't be in the next ME".
Secret: that might be why we're all playing it too.
But also because it's amazing.
We're still alive. We're working hard on finishing a milestone in the development of the next Mass Effect. A lot of us are quiet because it is a pretty intense workload presently. This milestone answers a LOT if not most of the questions for us internally and works out kinks in our development pipelines. It's good news, but not exactly exciting for you guys and gals, since it doesn't provide you with apetizing new screenshots, cool trailers, or details on the game right away. Things are trucking along nicely though. ![]()
It's also full-on winter in Edmonton, and I'm sure Montreal is not far behind. I've seen a staggering -36C on my phone on one morning going into work already. Soon we will get an order of Tauntauns in, and things will be better for everyone.
How far away is that horizon? Check out when the last two are posted. Less than a minute apart, both at 12 minutes?
I like how that is the thing you latch onto. If it reassures you, I didn't think to tweet the question about a structure at the horizon until well after I thought it and started driving in that direction.
Well, if anything, game developers have taught me to be very cynical. Not saying that BioWare has taught me to be very cynical, just game developers in general.
I know, from DA:I, that everything on foot is massive. In a Mako? Ehhh, so - so? Depends on how fast the Mako goes.
Goodness, if I had to trek from my spot to the horizon on foot it would've taken me a good while. The Mako is far faster than going on foot.
And I get it. You don't have to share my excitement, especially when you're not seeing what I'm seeing, and we all have different experiences, but this is honestly not meant to hype people to me personally. I want to be excited for things I work on. I'm sharing some of my excitement insofar I can. Nothing more.
Examples of "wonder and excitement" in the trilogy (space)
Destroyed CIC in ME2 prologue, docking tube to Geth Dreadnought, getting to the Citadel for the first time, seeing rebuilt Normandy
And to think I helped build 2 of those.
Is Jos Hendriks Dutch?
Because that name is so incredibly Dutch even we Dutch people would think it's way too Dutch.
On-topic, though:
I'm already getting way too excited about the Mako. I loved that thing in ME1 (which I'd never even played until about 4 months ago). A Mako in explorable areas combined with feedback about both of those things from previous BioWare titles? Hell yes!
Jos Hendriks is totally Dutch. Like, 100%.
Well, nobody is perfect.
The Dutch are usually very nice people. Unless they are in Oranje-mode.
We are a very... competitive and proud people.
If we don't get any news soon, things will happen....
Yetis might attack Montreal and Edmonton, Holland might be flooded by accident, the Dutch national football team will be cursed and never win the World Cup (won't happen anyway)....
You know Bioware-fans. Anything is possible. Just saying.
Yetis can't handle the weather up here, the Dutch are inventive enough to deal with flooding, the Dutch national football team is cursed for that already. I just make the cool things, I don't decide on when news is coming.
Just wanna say I've been a fan of your work since my UT days.
Oh jeez, thank you! Not many people know/acknowledge about my UT stuff. ![]()
But Jos will leak something about ME that's a fact, yes he will because he's that kind of guy, he's a nice guy, the guy you cant count on BTW nobody will know it's you so just do it Jos like a pro anonymous style, leak some pics you have the power but you don't even know it
Nice try. ![]()
ah, I've missed all you crazy kids.
but i think jos is really trying to tell us that we need to nudge ea to get some info! i mean, he;s basically tapping once for yes, twice for no. it's like they're trapped! ......trapped in a glass case of emotion!
what's the plan, jos? you want us to contact that mr. andrew wilson? aka "Mr. Suavecittoooo"
for you, jos..we will do it. and by the spirits we will free you. we will free you all!
.....
As entertaining as this story is, what I'm trying to say is that we're working on things, and these things take time, and we could all do with some patience. We're being diligent. ![]()
lol!
edit: ofc, i know what you were trying to say, Jos. but in all fairness, we've been pretty patient for a long while now.
i know you don't have any authority in these particular matters, and the devs are hard at work. it's just that at this point i'm half expecting not to hear anything abt the game until it bursts full grown from the head of zeus, or some such.
i do wish somebody at marketing would share at least some general ideas abt the direction of the next game and a title. it's been a long while to still be this blind abt the next game.
Ty Interrogation Bear.
@Jos: are you getting an awe inspiring space scene this time? the Normandy being destroyed and the Geth Dread blew my mind. I'd love to see a scen such as those agaiN!
Well, I do love me some cool space moments. I can't and won't make any promises, but you can bet I'm going to try and make another cool space moment. ![]()
I dont know who did it, but the mission when youre boarding the geth dreadnought and you can watch that awesome planet in the background while spacewalking that tube. I often just stop to gaze.
