Reckoning?

OneTrueShot (you know, the guy who leaked Retaliation, Groundside and Firefight) made a thread announcing that there's another dlc coming for MP and that it will be called Reckoning.

i think the post was referring the Kindoms of Almau: RECKONING game in other words in it for lols (there was a crossover deal with if u played the demo of reckonging u get the weapon/armor he was referring to) i think were done with mp dlc. (btw it's not because of the "leak")

Nope, he was pretty direct when confirming that we will have another dlc for MP:
http://social.biowar...5442/2#15326731

Also: Remeber that there will be one year of dlc, this means that there's still time for another big dlc to come for both SP and MP (March/April is the time limit).

After that, yeah, ME3 will be dead unless they plan on releasing a tie-in dlc for the next ME game or the MP keeps being alive for enough time to make it worth another expansion.

No, it definitly seemed worded to be a MP dlc. Though he was being very here and there about it.

It's not a hard time limit though - I'm sure that if every piece of DLC was selling like crazy that they'd keep making them.

(I guess, as long as it made business sense to keep team members on ME3 DLC rather than the next ME or whatever Casey's other IP is)

Given the reaction to Omega though, and its price, I'm not sure it'd be as successful as Leviathan - though maybe it doesn't need to be, in terms of unit sales, since it's an extra $5 anyway.

I'm betting the dlc the edmonton is doing is going to go over better. the pricing on omega and the rushed content just sucked. I dont think the montreal team is good at making content :(

At least 3 bugged moments in cutscenes, some poor storytelling overall, lack of music in the final cutscene, didnt do anything interesting with aria after the mission (why wasnt her citadel location replaced with a batarian that had a radio to her, or adding an omega hub location?)

Also the biggest thing, they listed all the war assets under "Alien", despite most of them not being appropriate for that (General Oleg needs to be in Ex-Cerberus)

People doubted volus when OTS mentioned those, and bam, volus. So I'm inclined to believe this, including Chakram.

"Nothing new to report, just hammering away at the #ME3DLC music! No break in sight just yet."

I'm really interested to see the music for this. Sam Hulick all the way!

Can I have whatever it is you're having? Because I'd really like to see this music too.

Yes. The next IP is most likely in an early stage of development and therefore BioWare mightn't need many people to work on it at this time, meaning that those employees who are working on ME3 DLC packs wouldn't possibly have much to do if BioWare decided to stop developing futher DLC. They could, of course, join the DA team (and I'm sure every hand is welcomed there).

Would anyone explain to me what that "logic work" actually is? I mean, what is specific about it in comparison with other work that programmers do?

I'm guessing it may vary from person to person and how they view the work but I'll give an example of what he might be talking about.

A common desgin pattern for programming is the Model View Controller design. Basically the program is split into 3 section, one that handles the display of the information(view), one that handles inputs(controller), and finally the engine running behind the scenes keeping track of everything(model).

While technialcally all 3 have logic controlling how they operate, the model part takes care of the state of the program, updates information for the views to dislpay and interprets inputs from the controller. So from a purely logic crunching point of view it can be the heaviest and what I'd guess he may have been working on. AKA code that gets executed to update the state of something due to actions of something else.

Of course this is overly simplified and I can be completly wrong as he may indeed be working on logic for the view part to update was the underlying  state has been changed or something else entirely.

Just realized how many buzz words I used, yuck. Hopefully it still somewhat makes sense of things to someone though.

Unless he's talking about if/then logic so depending on what choices we make, certain stuff will happen.

Lol who am I kidding? Our choices don't matter anymore.

Thanks, Fawx9. It makes perfect sense to me. Actually, developing websites is my hobby and a part-time job, but video game programming is beyond my comprehension.

Jos is a level designer, not a programmer.

His logic is about things happening on the map (fights, conversations, banter, etc.) when they're supposed to.

For me, logic work is anything ranging between controlling when doors lock/unlock ingame, to when combat triggers, to what enemies you get to fight, to when cutscenes/conversations trigger, to when parts of the levels get streamed in and out to maintain an acceptable memory/performance footprint, to when explosions in a level trigger, to when loading screens happen and what needs to load underneath those loading screens. I hope that clears things up a little. :)

Thanks for clarification.

What about bugfixing? Does that mean fixing the bugs of the new content as the new builds are being developed, or is the team working on a 'normal' patch for the bugs left in the main game? :)

Since I'll be completely away from the forums for a good while starting tomorrow because of my vacation, I wanted to take the time right now to wish everyone here happy holidays, and a happy, lucky, but especially a healthy new year. Stay safe, be careful with fireworks, and I hope to see you all again next year. :)
