What makes you think that? He tweeted something?

Apparently, he's been moved into the DA writer's pit.

Which would mean he's not even on the same floor as the ME team anymore (which also probably means no more DLC after the next, if true).

Mike Gamble mentioned reading his DLC work a while ago, so I guess it's possible Weekes' work on Mass Effect is all done. I presume they're hiring more writers for Montreal's ME as part of building up the studio, and Casey's other IP sounds like it might be still in preproduction. It doesn't seem unreasonable to move some of the ME team over to Dragon Age, at least temporarily, while production on DA3 is getting busy.

Yeah, my feeling is that it would be a temporary assignment (off-team writers seem to usually do supplemental writing, at least in the past when the projects were bigger and there was more time between releases). The DA writing team is already really large.

Wish they would snag John and Cathleen too (neither are on the Twitter, though, so we'd probably never know even if they did).

I don't think that we would hear any news about the SP dlc in January. Probably we'll get a teaser picture. Maybe we'll get some news about the MP dlc though.

I think we all knew that this was going to be the last DLC.

It's a damn pity, I just hope they allow ME3 to go out with a fabulous and satisfying bang.

Yeah, most probably it will be the last... but who knows. There could be one or two more up in their sleeves.

Why do we think it's the last? Weekes moving? I kinda hope it's the last, I've... been waiting to play with all the DLC. So, yeah.

Just the whole "all hands on deck" and everything else. It sounds like they're putting everything they've got into this DLC, which is why it seems like it's the last one.

There is more DLC coming, but it will be a while before it is discussed. Hopefully without leaks.

Chris knows about as much as we do, which is very little.

Hmm, then the writing for new DLC is probably done. Though it does add up to speculation that it's gonna be the last one when yet another ME writer moves to DA team :/ And the fact that Chris said news is still long way off, so probably February/March release. Don't see room for more DLC in such case :(

Huh?

He's the community manager, and he works there. Chris *absolutely* knows a heck of a lot more than we do.

Being purposefully vague ("we have more DLC coming, at some point a while off") is definitely not the same thing as being uninformed.

He's shown on multiple occasion to not be in the loop on what is going on within BiowWare, often just being plain wrong about a lot of things. Nothing he says shouldn't be taken without a lot of salt.

I'm coming to this conclusion, too. The timing is getting harder to justify DLC and there are several other projects ongoing or ramping up development that would seem to be occupying the studio's time and teams.

Would love to be mistaken, though - I guess we won't find out for quite a while, even after the next DLC is released.

Yeah, well, ME1 had Pinnacle Station released year+ after the game and ME2 had Arrival released year+. So I guess there is some tiny hope. But then again, both ME1 & ME2 had direct sequels coming out shortly which definitely was a big help for DLC sales of previous games, even the ones released late. Me3 doesn't have that, I doubt ME4 will be even announced officially before VGAs 2013 so there's nothing really to sustain high hype in mid-2013 for another DLC release :(((

Probably whoever is working at Montreal wise, will be working on the final DLC after this one. The Arrival DLC was also made by them.

Check David Gaider's and Sylvia's tweets from a couple of days ago, also Mike Laidlaw at one point. Weekes is on the DA team as of this week-ish, it seems there's a writers meeting on Friday.

It makes me very sad to hear Weekes is on the DA team. ;; He added a lot of life to ME that will be hard to replace.

But I suppose it bodes good things about the next DA game. I just wish I could like DA like I like ME.

Well it doesnt mean that he's not also a ME4 guy, the DA team probably have drafted some ME guys in to help get DA3 done, he'll be back to the ME4 team soon enough.

Dragon Age: Inquistion just got a lot more interesting with Patrick Weekes' inclusion while Mass Effect 3 a lot less so. ;P

That's certainly possible, yeah. There's probably a fair bit of overlapping time later this year when most of DA3's writing will be done and ME4's might be ramping up. Bioware might even plan project timelines this way to share team members, who knows.

Though that being said, doesn't Montreal have its own fairly substantial writing team? I know Ann Lemay is there because of some interviews she was giving to the Border House a while ago.

I consider it likely (though not for ME4; for the new IP instead). DA already has David, Luke, Mary, Sheryl, Jennifer, Tonia, Sylvia, and a couple others who are too shy to reveal themselves (I think David has said he's in charge of 8 or 9 writers). (Sylvia moved to the team before ME3 even released, so it's more likely her assignment was voluntary and/or permanent.)

As for the writing, I think they got their assignments early last year (in January or February), so I suspect a lot of the big plots and the companions are already very far along.

Yep, I don't expect anybody from the current ME team to do anything more than supplemental writing for ME4 (the way Patrick may now be doing supplemental writing for DA3, just as he and other members of the ME team did for Origins).

Hmm. Does that indicate that two DLCs are on the way, since Hulick has already been scoring for one, or is this one just ... really substantial?
