I think Yanick means to ask: "what aspect of the DAO character creator is different from ME?"

Not sure where you got that from, but no, take a look at the latest comments (or sub-tweets or whatever they're called :P):

MyobiPT
@YanickRRoy Race & Background selection, giving our character a different start =P Just bloody loved it in DAO.

YanickRRoy
@MyobiPT Not off the table, but ME not having a silent protagonist would make it much more complicated than in DAO... #keepfingerscrossed

I'm not yet sure if I'd prefer to have a choice of race in the next Mass Effect game, but it's certainly interesting to think about :) but even if it happened, I'd reckon we wouldn't have more than 3 races to choose from.

Just make it Council Races. Salarians, Turian, Asari, Human. THat is more than adequate and they could get away with the same voice actor for each race and respective gender.

LOL no they can't.

1. If they do include multiple races, (I sincerely hope not) expect 3 at most. The three are Human, Turian and Asari.

2. Now imagine in your head, Shepards voice, now imagine his voice on a Salarian, doesn't fit does it? Same with any deep voice they choose to give the Human male. Salarians sound drastically different from Humans and Turians, it just wouldn't work.

They could put different filters over the voice depending on what race you chose, maybe.

They could... or just use the same actor for multiple voices. Mark Meer and Jen can do a few.

Do you have an offical statement claiming Salarians cannot have a deep voice?

Well... every Salarian we've seen doesn't have a deep voice. I think it's mostly due to their metabolic system :D

This. They already add multiple filters now. "Transpose up and accelerate" filter for Salarian, "roughness" filter for Turian, and Asari sound the same as human women anyway. Maybe they could still add some kind of slight filter to make it sound a bit different from the human female's voice. BAM and you've got four species with just one recording. Please make it happen BioWare:)

This works for some aliens, like asari and turians, but you can't just pitch up the voice to make it sound salarian. The actor would have to act like a salarian. If you manipulate the source file so that he's pithced and sped up, you will lose some of the quality an actor would bring in that performance. The asari and turians talk in a manner more closely similar to that of humans, so that wouldn't be a problem.

Voice actors for Salarians actually speak that way? Not normally of course, but through altering their voice? I always figured they put some voice filters on the recordings...

There are filtres, of course, but they act in a different way too. Salarians are more energetic, sometimes they sound like weaklings, etc. You need an actor to play the part like that, otherwise it won't sound natural.

Since we're not BioWare devs, we can't control how much twitter is in this thread. However, the ongoing conversation is in reaction to a tweet.

In that case Volus females don't exist.  We've never seen or heard of one of them after all.

Allers mentions that Salarians prefer female voices because they relate to high pitched tones.

The thing about trying to manipulate voices and all that is that you are essentially going to end up with a ton of space consuming VO that has gone through various filters. Couple that with the fact that a very small percentage of people even played as anything other than Human Noble when they got the chance back in Origin and I don't see BW wasting the resources and time on a feature that a small fraction of their users are going to even use.

Volus females would be the easiest to create. Since their entire body is covered anyway, all you have to do is give them a female voice.

Edit: With the breathing effect, of course.

There's a salarian on SurKesh that is voiced by Garrus' voice actor, whose normal voice isn't exactly high pitched. They could have a single voice actor and then make it appropriate for each species choice with filters and such.

I think the Citadel DLC will be the last one... based on some retweets from the writers... https://twitter.com/ME3News

Maybe they're finished writing all the DLC, but they might be releasing them at different times (in other words, this wouldn't be the last DLC). Wishful thinking on my part, maybe.

We'll see... it could be possible that they prepared more than one dlc at a time (remember EC and Leviathan... they were produced at the same time), but lets not get our hopes too high. Again: we'll see.

I´m pretty sure that they could have easily created a bunch of smaller DLCs alongside the last SP DLC.

I am thinking at the Alternate Appearance Pack 2 and a bunch of other small packs (whatever they might be).

BW Montreal could also create a bunch of smaller DLCs while they are developing the next ME game.
