Priestly has a repeated habit of lying when it comes to upcoming content. 

- Javik - after Origin leaked it would be a bonus PROTHEAN squadmate, Priestly denied that it was a mistake and that the Prothean was not a bonus squadmate. 

- Garrus - after the medal leaks for ME2 and people said that Archangel was Garrus, Priestly denied it.

- Legion - same as above. Denied Geth squadmate.

- Kasumi - denied Kasumi after people dug up her files in ME2

In this case, I'll believe that this isn't post endgame though. 

It's his job to bullsh!t people and he's doing it rather well. I, for one, don't believe a damn thing that he says, I prefer seeing stuff when it happens.

Indeed, his job as "Community co-ordinator" is to "manage the community", and an important part is to prevent spoilers getting out that could spoil someone's enjoyment of the game. Disinformation is a part of managing speculation.

That's one way to do it.

Another is to realize that there are dedicated sites to datamining, mmo-champion is probably the best example, and manage the speculation by grounding things in fact rather than trying to cover things up.

I agree but then you could make an agrument that not saying anything means it's "true" so there really in a no win situation here
