You might want to find that quote. I'm pretty sure he said there would be a surprise to show at comic con. I'm almost certain he never said or implied there would be any kind of announcement or anything that big and that's exactly what happened.

What was the surprise? Earth DLC? Yay . . . I guess. Posted Image

Technically it wouldn't have been announced early if that Microsoft guy hadn't made that 360 DLC list. :P

I think the teaser picture was, although, I thought it was a short video from the initial description. And judging by how it was underwater and a Leviathan is a big sea monster/creature, it's reasonably safe to assume it was a teaser for that DLC.

Sure, it's a tiny "surprise" but I find many users on this forum get way too excited about something, blow it way out of proportion, and hype it up all by themselves. And then once it's finally revealed, they're disappointed and blame bioware, when they have no one to blame but themselves.

didnt Mike Gamble spout off about having something big to release/discuss at SDCC? All they released was a picture? I mean, the MP DLC is cool and all, even though I dont play it, but I would think that most people were interested in some SP content, yea?

or maybe there still working on that dlc

just give them time man

I agree.  But if Mike Gamble is hyping up some new info drop at SDCC and they dont do that, well, thats just kind of annoying and underwhelming.   Anyways, barring some awesome reversal of priorities and management at Bioware, Im done with ME3, so they can take all the time in the world.  :wizard:

eh im noit worried about it because i believe it was just to get people hyped

And that's why I get upset with things sometimes. Why on Earth is it that they can't talk straight instead of hyping and playing with illusions and all that. I guess showing pics to hype things is becoming something regular for the game industry. It was the same damn thing with Dawnguard, they showed a picture, everyone went nuts and nobody really knew anything. I don't think it's kind of a coincidence that BioWare happened to do the same thing Bethesda did at E3 with Dawnguard.

...except nobody is really going nuts over the teaser image. Bioware has some serious bridge-building to do to get back into fans (much less the media's) good graces, and all these empty conferences and events are just pushing more and more people away.

It's because he sat on the Twitter the last month or so, talking about preparations and the things he has to show us and how it was going to be great.

And then he came to the show, and he brought nothing. Nothing.

You be trippin', Gamble.

That wasn't unexpected, after the mess they created with the endings it will be hard for people to look at BioWare the same way they did before EA bought them. Even I don't think I'll buy another BIoWare game, ME3's endings were fixed for me at least but the game still has problems. I just hope the DLC doesn't end up being empty promises, otherwise I'll just go back to Skyrim.

I be?

A few things.

1. The intent of the panel was to show the fans a little bit about how we put together the extended cut.
2. Show off the earth DLC, which was leaked earlier.
3. Tease something new
4. Answer some questions.

Say what you will about the panel, but it's never easy getting up there and presenting content - and I think the team did a damn good job.

I watched a live stream of the panel and was happy with what was said. Was a bit dissappointed there was no trailer for SP DLC, but I'm a patient guy. :-)

Plus underwater battles with a "shark-named" vehicle could be cool.

Oh please, there was nothing interesting presented by the Bioware team at that panel. Literally the only interesting ME-related news at SDCC was about the deluxe figures of Tali and Femshep - that was it.

Once again the Bioware PR department failed by building up expectations and not delivering. It's like after being bought out by EA Bioware just wants to flip the bird at fans at every opportunity. I'm not saying that's what's happening, simply what I see from the perspective of a fan.

For starters, thank you for replying in this thread (dev comments regarding members of the Edmonton ME team have all but ceased at this point, so it is greatly appreciated). However, I believe you guys should not be ignoring/filtering questions that deal with the controversy surrounding ME3's endings. It's completely understandable why you wouldn't want to discuss such issues in a public setting, but you must realize that these issues cannot simply be swept under the rug. Individual fans have sunk hundreds of hours into the ME universe - it is hard to simply "let go" of such emotional investment without at least an explanation or simple acknowledgement.

What is my point? Acknowledge the criticism regarding ME3 has placed a wedge amongst the fanbase and explain the significance and intent behind the endings to the fans in a clear, concise manner so all of us can move on with our lives. Yes, I am aware that the extended cut in some ways was an admittance that the endings could have used more polish before release; it was a good gesture, and certainly one that most fans at the very least admire you for (regardless of their opinion on the quality of the EC).

Simply opening up and communicating to fans in a humble, honest manner can work wonders in easing the pain and anxiety many fans have experienced these past few months.

Edit - I made one too many edits, and the forums multiplied my post. Sorry!

Fair enough. Maybe the observation is hypercritical.

It just seems that for something billed as a look at the "past, present, and future" of Mass Effect, it was disturbingly light in the "future" department (and a bit lacking in the past department, but everybody already knows those stories, so no loss). (Except, of course, for the content you leaked a month or so ago.)

I suppose it could have just been the session description gremlins playing their usual tricks. You're not supposed to feed them after midnight.

Thanks for replying!  Quick question though, are we ever going to see the logic system behind the EC?  I'm still rather intrigued as to how it all played out.  I'm kind of curious to see the Wizard behind the curtain so to speak.

Altogether a nice panel, maybe I'll drag myself out to SDCC next year to see the next one in person (assuming you guys will be there of course.)

Really? I see quite a bit of developer activity. Additionally, some of my tweets that end up getting posted here directly reply to what people in here talk about (because I myself and others read the forums daily). The reminder of there being a lot of designers both here and in Montreal working on things that just isn't ready to be shown was a reply to devSin voicing thoughts on separate teams for MP/SP. Also devSin, can't a guy do a bit of both? ;)

Not everybody uses Twitter though (like me). If that is where most of the devs use as a forum to discuss the game with fans, then I wouldn't know.

Anyways, the only constant poster with a Bioware nametag on the ME3 forums is Allen, and he isn't even a Mass Effect dev. I remember dev participation on the ME forums BEFORE the BSN update was a daily affair for many employees -now I am lucky to see even a single developer post that is something other than an annoucement.

Have to word your question better mate as that can invite a 'yes' or 'no' answer. A better question would be something like "what is the estimated time when more details will be disclosed for that tease you guys gave?"

EDIT: I second the post above - I don't use twitter either and it's pretty strange that Bioware employees would rather use twitter than their own fan forums to post news.

I think the flowchart was one of his slides, although I don't know how much they talked about it.

I doubt it will ever be released publicly. Or they could, and we could find out what happened to Miranda.

Jos Hendriks wrote...

Of course.

But it's an ongoing thing here. You have people saying how multiplayer is stealing from single-player, and then you have people who come back and insist that multiplayer is done only in Montreal (even to the point where it's an entirely separate budget with no overlap).

There's never an in-between. So I simply pointed out that if Jos is doing multiplayer levels then there has to be something in the middle (unless you're not actually on the live team for SP content, I guess).

Brenon was always pretty regular, but he's disappeared now.

He would have been the person to tell us how exactly the Mineral Resources import is supposed to work, I bet. :(

Dev replies are nice, but the issues still stand. If you cant talk about something due to whatever (I understand there are rules about what you can and cant say), just leave it at that. The way info releases have been handled since ME3 was confirmed has been one never ending hype train, and quite frankly it fell flat. way flat.
