I liked the combat system from ME1, though. In some ways it was more unique than endless corridors of waist-high walls, and you could fight outdoors over long distances.

Hmm, ME1 was very repetitive when it came to their "corridors" .. same internal dimensions of walls with boxes randomly placed throughout... same stair cases... same rooms...

If they were to do any kind of re-release, it most likely will go the route of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition.  That re-release actually retouched all the graphics and textures (even changed Lara's face a bit too) and runs at 1080p 60fps (at least for PS4 - don't know XB1) and rivals the image quality versus PC (and in some ways, beats it).

I would love to see ME1 get a combat overhaul similar to ME3 (and ME2 similarly to ME3 also).

I wish I could play ME1 again but my digital download is asking for disk 2. I don't even have a disk to begin with and it's digital! What the heck!

That happened to me with ME2. The problem was that the download was corrupted. The only solution was to download again.

I think if they do a re-release on  the next gen consoles, I thinks its safe to say this is what will happen, there aren't going to change anything regadring the plot in the three games.

Why would they be working so long this early in production? I know about crunch time close to the game's release, but knowing that the game isn't that far into production I find this surprising. Doesn't mean it's not appreciated though  :)

I think writers usually have a big workload at the start of the project, since they need to basically be mostly finished before the cinematics people can start work.

Or they might just be crunching to meet some internal deadline.

There will also be the inevitable rewrites, i remember Jos Hendricks in the old Twitter thread once saying that you start out with ideas, that sometimes don't work out the way you want them to as you progress, so you wind up having to go back & rewrite so it makes more sense.

Jay Watamaniuk@JayWatamaniuk: Hmm. Awake. Might as well head off to work. Made a little progress last night, but have to get through a big chunk today for sure.

Others nailed it regarding the work of the writers. They'll be integral the whole way through, but right now is major.

You are very kind, but there are many people on the next Mass Effect who I think are cooler than I am. Besides, we could all use a little bit of Adventure Time bacon pancakes every now and then.  ;)

We love all of you guys at Bioware. BTW, are you referring to people working on the next Mass Effect in Edmonton, or have you seen/met the team in Montreal?

(P.S: It's March 6 tommorrow. Can we get a ''tease'' for the next Mass Effect? Pretty please :D )

Both, I went and visited the team in Montreal a little while back. There are really cool people in both locations.

Official unveilings are a huge deal, chris. Tomorrow is almost certainly not bringing anything because the industry wants enormous splashes when games are revealed as officially in production. That was why I predicted there wouldn't be anything before, and now that we know Dragon Age is getting something tomorrow I feel even more confident about it.

Still, if it happens, I'll be the first person smiling.

EDIT:

Also, obligatory "hi Jos, love your work, etc."

There are also a good number of us in Montreal who originate from Edmonton! We pretty much all know each other fairly well I'd say. One big happy family, d'awww~

I know, I know. I'm just having Mass Effect withdrawls, okay. Damn Bioware for making such a great trilogy

I agree with you though. Info like that would be important, but it isn't always done in a big way. I think when DAI was announced it was small blog on Bioware's site that gave very basic and vague info. Even that wouldn't hurt at this point, especially for us fans.

Well then, as someone who lives right next to Montreal, I hope you guys are enjoying it! What is your favorite part of Montreal so far?
