Sales say otherwise.

Tomb Raider, which came out for 360/PS3 in 2013, got a "remastered" version (Definite Edition) with DLC (mostly multiplayer related) packed in and sold very well for PS4 and XB1; despite the fact that there was already a "superior" version available on PC since its launch.

That was like a GOTY version for a newly-released set of consoles which people had little else (at the time) to play on.

ME1-3 would be a different proposition - a much longer game experience for a set of fans who have already probably played through the whole lot multiple times. I'd be interested if the earlier games saw a lot of attention to get them up to scratch but the work involved in doing that would be, I assume, quite immense. Also I'd prefer it if these man-hours were spent on ME4 :)

They already released the trilogy pack (which took months of work by another studio), I hardly think they'd do it again straight away to update the games to next-gen.

What's the point, when MENext is a year or two away?

Some of our moms really are levels, guys, some of us being of Platformish descent and all? So can we please keep things strictly two-dimensional here?

And before anyone asks, yes, I am "forced" into a strict diet of bananas, mushrooms and energy tanks. But I take issue with the typical phrasing. I happen to enjoy bananas, mushrooms and energy tanks, and frankly, I'm proud of my ability to shoot balls of fire at people.

I don't know, I used to stick to that diet, but now there's things like BattleBlock Theater, Super Meat Boy, N+(+), Guacamelee, Rogue Legacy, Rayman Origins/Legends, Outland, and of course Spelunky. While I agree that DKC, Mario, and Megaman are a nice diet to stick to, there is so much good choice these days.

Hey bioware how about we get some ME: Next concept art and more importantly when are we going to get a title name. If you want people to stop calling it ME4 give us a title name.

Additionally becoming QA for audio means supplementing my simple chat headset at work with some Sennheiser 429s. Quite happy with these!

And now to file the first audio bug heard through my new headphones.

When the game is officially unveiled would be a good time for such things.

Audio confirmed! They're really pushing this next-gen stuff.

I know but its irritating that we constantly get told we're idiots for calling the next game ME4 when we don't have else to call it. It's the fourth main title and just because we call it ME4 doesn't mean its a direct continuation.

I just roll with NME now, although yeah, when talking with my friends about it (who always assume I have some hot insider info, lawl) I have to say ME4 for now when the subject comes up, or "the next Mass Effect game."

Usually the latter as I'm even wordier IRL than I am online.

We're not told we're idiots. They want to emphasise the point that it isn't a direct sequel to try and stop people not as well informed getting the wrong impression. They would never call someone an idiot for it. Personally I don't see anything wrong with the term though.

Pretty much, "ME4" is just a codename for the next ME game really.

NME, MEN, ME4, they're all just monikers for it. We don't have an official name so while they don't want us to call it ME4 because it relates too much back to the Shepard trilogy for all intents and purposes it works to say 'this is the next game in the series'. Getting too worked up over it I think is a bit juvenile. I can understand why ME4 as a term isn't correct because we know it isn't ME4 but it just as well means what you want it to when talking about the next game. IMO at least.

Final Fantasy games are numbered and yet the individual stories have nothing to do with each other. They are not direct sequels but each is one game in the series of games known as Final Fantasy.

Then Zephyr, you must have been to much more controlled places of the web than I because I been called almost every name under the sun from the last place I mentioned ME: "Next". Also you have to admit there are people who have been very hostile to people who call the next game "ME4".

I guess I don't find myself in the more caustic of areas on the internet that are so disposed about names. That being said, I don't understand why you would frequent a place where they get that bent out of shape... I dunno, to each there own. I don't want to stray too far from the thread topic.

Two of those places included youtube and the Mass Effect Wiki. Twitch has actually been very friendly.

Ann Lemay@annlemay: Went out to supper with @Joanna_Berry, dropped her off home & now am back at the office, adding in ALL THE NOTES for this document. #space

Jay Watamaniuk@JayWatamaniuk: Treadmill'ed. Time for edits.

Ann Lemay@annlemay: @JayWatamaniuk Imma do that when I get home, if it kills me. (It might. Oh god, the beignets.)

Jay Watamaniuk@JayWatamaniuk: @annlemay I suspect you have like, 1000 times the feedback I did on that particular document if you are still writing it up. ;)

Ann Lemay@annlemay: @JayWatamaniuk I am working on "that document". I've been told to add all the comments I can think up, so there be lots. It's fun, though!

Ann Lenay@annlemay: @JayWatamaniuk I started Friday afternoon though, so. Not THAT many. I think. Maybe. ...I could count?

Ann Lemay@annlemay: It is possible that I am being distracted from the whole notes thing by picking on @JayWatamaniuk right now. ^_^

Jo Berry@Joanna_Berry: @annlemay @JayWatamaniuk +5 approval :D

Oh crap, @BioWare is following me now. Now I *really* can't tell you all about the game I'm working on. *smoke bomb*

Of course a little silly, because @AarynFlynn and @Al_McNally have been following me for a while, and they're the real bosses.

Nothing wrong with referring to the next game as the next Mass Effect game, or Mass Effect: "Next", until the proper title comes in. I get acquaintances/friends/family asking me about "ME4" and ME:Next" in person, and I tell them I'm working on the next Mass Effect. I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with people being zealous about the correctness of the name, but they have as much to go on as you do, so please don't care too much about what they tell you. :)
