I'm a little confused by Chris' tweet. Does this mean the new area is only accessible for the duration of the DLC, or that it's simply an area added through DLC?

devSin wrote...

I'm guessing the former, which means my
previous interpretation that it's simply a new area on the Citadel to
visit during the DLC and not a permanent new level was in fact the
correct interpretation.

VINDICATION!

Good thing I didn´t get my hopes up (too much :?).

Dismemberment?  Guess the head popping animation isn't enough.

I think Aaryn is in charge of the whole building.

So I doubt it was in reference to anything related to ME3.

I don't think DA3 really needs dismemberment, as long as they don't use the static chunks again (those could occasionally look pretty stupid). Not that chopping off body parts could ever truly be a bad thing, however. :-)

How are those statistics organised? Are they simply looking at the total number of playthroughs started (Then never finished) or are they looking at if each individual player has finished a playthrough?

Game completion rates are awful, it was a huge deal with Heavy Rain managed to score 72%.

Only 10% of players finished Red Dead Redemption for example. http://www.industryg...s-ndash-report/

That's a shame about Red Dead. I didn't really enjoy the Mexico act, but it was a great game.

Regarding the Mass Effect/Dragon Age playthroughs, a lot of the statistics probably reflect partial playthroughs. I know I started a few ME2 playthroughs just to try out the classes. I have at least one FemShep playthrough in ME3 in a standstill at the Mars prologue mission (I prefer MaleShep).

As for Dragon Age: Origins, I think a large part of that is simply people wanting to view all the origin stories without finishing the game. I never finished my City Elf and Dalish Elf playthroughs.

Not at all surprised, considering the ending were...lacklustered for some. The Originals in my opinion were good, but left alot out. EC brought me alot of closer, but I still wanted to see blue babies. Regardless, I still love the game and want more dlc. :D

Why am I not surprised? The ending controversy had a hand in that to be sure. The ending was garbage to say the least, and more and more people were learning that all those intricate decisions that were supposed to make a difference actually didn't. Oy, sad results to be sure. Let's hope some more interesting tweets show up soon, like say the release date of a particular SP DLC? ;)

The space editions were the start of the massive drop off rate, once the ending had been datamined and people knew what was up, the numbers began to plummet.

Oh yeah I remember those unfortunate times. Even before the game came out people started raging in the spoilers thread or whatever it was called. The space edtions were a big mistake IMO, its what started this whole mess. If I were EA I would never do something like that again.

As for completion rates, well, its not unexpected quite frankly. The EC may have fixed things for me but sometimes the game just feels so different compared to the other two. Lets hope DLC changes that.

Not to derail the thread with a link to something non-twitter-related (sorry Vertigo), but it's important to note the ME2 numbers shot upward this year. I remember an earlier iteration of this report and ME2 was still sitting pretty at like 48% or so; the devs talked about how proud they were of that number and whatnot. But the 56 is in part due to ME3's launch this year.

Does he work on DA3?  Because this dismemberment sounds like a good feature for the Dragon Age franchise.

JeffZero:

You might be referring to this: http://www.1up.com/n...-effect-2-stats

That came out roughly 8 months after launch verses ME3's 5 and there had been consistent DLC releases fueling player interest.

I expect ME3 to come in behind ME2 anyway, but the real numbers are not as drastic as the report makes them seem when you consider ME2 got a boost at the very end from ME3.

Also people should take note that ME3 completion rates are higher than Dragon Age Origins and 2 and ME1 as well, though not by much. If the game was coming in low 30's or so that would be more indicative.

It was also retweeted by Mike Gamble though. I'm not sure if that's any indicator.

Hmm.  I just rechecked twitter, the guy who originally posted it works at Bioware Edmonton, which is the studio that is working on DA3.

Definitely the latter. All he's saying is that the new area of the Citadel is specific to the DLC, so you only get it if you have purchased the DLC.

I dont get smart of this. Does it mean that 50% of buyers never finish the game? Wrong advertising or what?

Did he just slip that Leviathan was suppose to come out on the 28th?

Sounded like the trailer would come out then, not the DLC. They're talking primarily trailers in this podcast:wizard:

I doubt that, since the teaser came out on August 2. And the DLC is set for Summer.

Summer is right up until 21st September, so it's possible he really did mean the trailer was set for the 28th August.
