It's on the list but not confirmed. Ditto the Visceral-helmed Star Wars project as well as a few other things that may well be simple guesswork. Aye, they know more than us, but that list doesn't mean confirmation unless there's an asterisk. And beyond that, it also contains at least one glaring flaw: Attack Squadrons was cancelled.

This time of year is just too big for the major sites to get around to it for one game, methinks, and all the shady sites have been chock full of ME4 "confirmations" for ages, anyway.

It's still speculation, but increasingly likely, as there are people who work on Mass Effect that are showing up for E3. If you look back in this thread you'll see a few teasing tweets and Yanick Roy rehearsing for... something.

I did read through the thread. There wasn't anything in particular that stood although a few things do sound more hopeful. I was wondering whether there was some outside source. At least we will know one way or the other soon.

My bet for Bioware's game plan?

- Aaryn Flynn walks on to show off a DAI demo, maybe another trailer too

- Says that they will move onto ME

- Casey Hudson comes on stage and announces next-gen remasters of the original trilogy, maybe along with a trailer

- Casey Hudson says that they have one last surprise

- Yanick Roy comes on stage to speak a little about this mysterious project

- Mass Effect (???) teaser trailer

- Mic dropped

 

It will be probably like this, ME Trilogy on PS4/One and ME4 presentation, it will be a small trailer or teaser just like for Dragon Age last year and if we are very lucky maybe some gameplay but I doubt it they will keep the gameplay for the next E3.

Mass Effect 4 might be getting a reveal at E3 2014. A post on Twitter by Yannick Roy, says that the Studio Director for Bioware Montreal is heading to Los Angeles for E3, a trip that Roy rarely makes.

 

“Excited to be heading to LA for E3 this morning. My last visit was 8 years ago,” reads the postby Roy. It would make a lot of sense for Electronic Arts to get the hype train rolling for the next Mass Effect game. While they haven’t revealed the game officially, Bioware has been openly talking about the game via Social Media and their blog for quite some time.

 

The last we heard, the fourth Mass Effect game was somewhere in the middle of the development process. Is a 2015 release in the cards for Mass Effect 4? We’ll likely find out when EA takes the stage at their press conference on Monday, June 9th.

 

Update: Rumors ahead of E3 also suggest that the new game will be called Mass Effect: Origins, and will start a new trilogy for the RPG.

I know precisely where that site gathered all its content for the article thanks to this thread and just one more, and the Origins gig has all but been firmly debunked already. Whether or not it's a trilogy-opener has not.

Could be more teasing to generate more interest in the game, a reveal trailer might give some tiny details about the next game (the MC in particular).

FFVIII is a September 1999 game and MGS3 is a November 2004 game. It's a different age. Marketing is constantly looking for ways to remind people they can hop aboard without playing previous entries; it's no longer just a number, but a burden.

For me, subtitled entries to franchises give off the fan-fic/dodgy spin off vibe especially if it's a generic subtitle like 'Retribution' or 'Rebirth'.

 

Presumably the next Mass Effect will be released on the latest hardware. Why not further confirm it's a mainline, AAA release for sparkling new technology by giving it a number?

 Not particularly. Besides being set in the same universe, Oblivion isn't exactly connected to Skyrim, but it's still called The Elder Scrolls 5.
