The new ME is in development since 2012 and they didn't even reveal the name of it, I've found that really disappointing.

That was a krogan, confirmed.
Also, "they've found a way to keep the trilogy separate, and tell a new story."
Developers hate them.
Find out this weird little secret that separates the previous trilogy from your new game.

Agree completely. Fingers crossed in actuality its a lot better than it sounds.
Tbh, I had already accepted the possibility of a parallel universe long ago, Bioware took a scorched earth approach to ME3's ending, there's pretty much nothing else Bioware Montreal can do unless they want to attempt to clean up the ashes.

What is this "ark to another universe" theory?

But that also opens up a whole new can of worms, IF BioWare is actually is creating a new future story which takes place much later after ME3 and where the player's actions with ME3's ending (ie, choosing one of the three endings for the universe) are no longer valid.
All I can is, if Bioware is actually making their own "canon" to the ending of ME3 and that the players' choices on how that game could end no longer matters to the story of ME..... then I am going to be royally f'ing pissed.
Yeah, this was my main concern too.
Aaryn just said on GameTrailers that they have a special solution to that kind of issue, so I'm interested in finding it out.
IMO, retconning the ending now just because people didn't like it would be compounding a mistake with a bigger mistake. They made the decision to include the three endings, they should have to stick with that.
(after all, they had the chance to change it years ago - and didn't.)

good lord, are we time traveling?
Not necessarily. The game could for example start 500 years after someone (doesn't matter who) time travelled and changed history so that Shepard was never born. Reapers got defeated, but in a different way. Hundreds of years after that we play some space explorer.
Or perhaps the time-traveller could be one of the squadmates. That could reflect some 'original universe' choices (they could slap green synthesis texture on him for example)
Or perhaps it has nothing to do with time-travelling and creating parrarel universes like in Star Trek, just speculating ![]()

Council sent members from each species on a ship to another galaxy or unexplored region of space during Reaper war. The descendents of this ship repopulate.

Oh, gotcha. An ark ship.

Btw, for those who haven't figure it out yet it means it will probably be a reboot or parallel universe type scenario.
EDIT:beaten
Doubtful because the series is only 7 years old and they would be throwing away everything that happened. They just don't want to spoil anything. I think by "cool plan" he means that whether its a sequel or prequel, they have a good reason as to why they are going that route and it makes sense.

I think I'm leaning towards the ark to another universe theory, although that seems like a cheap way to not have to commit to a canon ending.
And still better way than canonizing one and disregarding choices of other players. For all the crap Star Trek reboots are getting from hardcore fans, the original universe still exists

Depends what you consider another universe.

What is this "ark to another universe" theory?
The idea that the races secretly launched a ship full of citizens from across the galaxy to go to another galaxy in an attempt to escape the Reapers.
We could wake up several hundred years later in a new galaxy and have to deal with new races, unfamiliar environments, etc.
It does capture that "stranger in a strange land" feel - the only problem is that the only familiar races we'd see are the people who were aboard the ark.

Well I suppose it was nice to see something. I mean it's not the greatest thing but it looks nice and .... that's about all there is to this, "It looks nice".
WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET SOME ACTUAL DETAILS!!!

There would have to be quitte a lot of people there in order to avoid inbreeding.

Ugh, an alternate universe? It's too early in the franchise's life for that.
As for the ark ship idea, it sounds great in concept but places like the Citadel are really important in the Universe and if we can't visit them it'd be a real bummer.

Hmm. Interesting.
I think at first blush I'd still prefer a straight-up continuation, but that might work. As would the Star Trek 09 approach.

so, explore and move fwd. yes. good. uh, but the n7 logo..symbol? i...i don't understand. looks post apocalyptic. but also in the milky way, not another galaxy.
Which is exctly what I'd hope this title to be.

But there are new races in the new galaxy. Granted, there are no new races from the Milky Way, but more than one new race suddenly entering the galactic landscape would not be very realistic. This way, they can introduce three or four new ones without breaking suspension of disbelief.

Is there any event before N7 day where we might see more? November is so far away [/whine].
Gamescom in August. PAX Prime... NYCC, SDCC
EA's Summer Showcase thing.

Except that they can preserve anything they feel like in parallel universe scenario. The differences could start at Shep's non-birth for example, which would mean most of the stuff we already know from the trilogy would still exist. Or this is a Shep-died-during-Suicide-Mission universe. Also possible.
This is incredibly unlikely.
It's either that, a prequel or canonizing choices. I think the first one is the best solution
