Man, I'm really disappointed for some reason.

Not about the little ME tease we got since I was actually hoping not to see anything (save it for after the release of DA:I).  The tease we got was perfectly fine.

Just in the E3 conferences thus far.  Some of the games I was looking forward to, just didn't "wow" me as I had hoped.

This whole E3 has been a little underwhelming at this point, I hope Sony and Nintendo can turn this around.

Yeah, no megaton moments so far. Only Sony conference left to change it

Not just that. It's mostly that last E3 showed so much more that was new: consoles, games, etc. We had all the drama with the Xbox One and the counter attack from Sony, new games announced (some which we didn't know).

Basically, this E3 was a simple presentation while last E3 was a TV drama, with plenty of twists and surprises that kept us interested more.

Also, in case anyone's interested, here's an interview with Aaryn Flynn, on Inquisition, new IP and Mass Effect: http://www.gametrail...ect-dragon-age-

Interestingly, I found the part where he says that they have an idea on how to keep the trilogy separate from this new game, while also giving nods to the fans who really liked the original trilogy. Maybe this leans more into a non-alternate universe or non-reboot setting, keeping into the same timeline?

Interview is worth a listen either way, imo.

Nintendo had little to no chance of not winning the conferences for me this year. The only way that wasn't going to happen was if we got a lot more on Inquisition and ME4 than we did, which I figured wasn't likely. Don't get me wrong, I'm super-stoked for such non-Nintendo items as Metal Gear Solid V, Uncharted 4, Final Fantasy XV and the two announced Star Wars games, but The Legend of Zelda for Wii U gets its major unveiling tomorrow, Smash is out sooner than any of those, Xenogears is my favorite game so X might really excite me, Gen 3 is my favorite point in Pokemon so the Ruby/Sapphire remakes are up my alley...

...there's just few things a bunch of games further out on the horizon could have brought that'd have changed that.

Sony's conference might be nifty though. We'll see.

I'm glad you found that. I hate being the arbiter of misquotes that go on to become infamous. I wasn't 100% I got the fullness of Aaryn's statement and I could just see a future of tumblr links to my attempt reaching out into the stars like a kind of Jihad.

XR, eh? Hmm.

yep XR but  it´s possibly mirrored, because the R is facing the opposite direction...so that could also be SRX......could it be?

Normandy had the code SR-2 no?

you must stop the video at 56 sec.

It's not mirrored, I think it's XRS or XR5. Does this have any relevance? Like, is it an Alliance designation number?

"X" is often used in recognition of experimental, or generally badass as far as fiction is concerned, creations. It could suggest that the Stealth Reconnaissance line has evolved into something else.

Xerox Reconnaissance, possibly. Go forth and multiply.

inetresting interpretation but it could be anything ha ha ........bioware wants a lot of speculation.

there is something that seems like an alien skeleton head( 52 second on the mass effect youtube channel to be precise)

Thought the thread could use a refresher on the video. Took me a while to find it. :P

Anyway, looks great to me so far. The first thing I noticed is the emphasis on "new worlds" and the realism of the suit designs so far, which are two things I really want to see. Also, ME on next gen is gonna be pretty..^^

I'm not really down with the whole ark to a new trilogy idea. I want to see them building a new civilization on what's left of the old, new players in power struggles over what the new paradigm is going to be, just a few decades out. A power vacuum scenario is interesting. I hope we're not necessarily playing another marine this time, and hopefully we'll get species selection. I want to maintain some ties to the old trilogy, a few recurring characters to let us see how things have changed and are evolving (storywise). That last ending choice was bad anyway, too broad, so I have no loyalty to it. I prefer they replace that citadel sequence completely, everything after the elevator. They could respect it as a mental interpretation of what Shepard went through without preserving the results. A wave of some kind still happened, just not canonizing the destroy/control/synthesis/reject chain. So we can build on the existing franchise rather than shunting it off to the closet of memory. I think incorporating the idea of the ark in other ways makes sense, though.

Do we have any ideas on why there's a Prothean next to a human at the Galaxy Map?

Can we assume that this is taking place post ME3?

I think so, since Casey said said the fans wanted to "move forward". It's not 100% proof of a post ME3 setting of course, but you don't move forward by going back to the First Contact War. That armor the human character was wearing looked quite a bit "newer" than what we saw in ME3 as well.

Edit: Oh my god. I still have 10 pages to read.

Has it been confirmed as a Prothean though? It seems a bit of a leap to me. I couldn't make out the Turian, Salarian or Normandy reckage with any degree of certainty either. I did recognise the Krogan though.

I can definitely see the Salarian in the "Normandy wreckage", the Turian is a bit blurrier. I thought it was an Asari at first but I think I can make out the fringe and the hump.

As for the Prothean, it's not confirmed but it definitely looks like one. I don't think it's a placeholder either because it's armour is different than Javik's.

Even though it was only a glimpse of the new #MassEffect, it's still exciting to show off a little of what we're doing. Forward! :)

Because a new Galaxy means no Citadel or anything we've grown accustomed too. I would be really surprised if it was set in another Galaxy and while aliens from other Galaxies are a possibility I don't think the whole game is going to be set outside of the Milky Way.

Everything they've said so far has been "NEW NEW NEW" why do you assume the Citadel needs to appear?

You don't need to go into "alternate universe" or "reboots"...timelines can extend pretty far.

Uhhh, because they've spent 7 years building up this Universe and the things in it. New doesn't mean getting rid of the old.

And moving forward does not entail clinging to the old. Asari, Salarian, Krogan, etc. these will still be there and no doubt they haven't forgotten their histories in the Milky Way. That's what Bioware has built up over those seven years. That history and interactions between characters, that was the universe, those made Mass Effect, not the Citadel.

There's no reason the Citadel needs to endure in Mass Effect: Next

I never said the Citadel made the Universe, I just mean it's part of it and I don't think they're likely to get rid of everything this early. We don't even know if ME4 is set in another Galaxy, we don't know if they're going to change the location completely. We don't know anything.

By moving forward they don't mean leave everything behind, they mean introducing new things and the plot not having anything to do with the Reapers, Shepard etc.
