I started doing the math, but then I realized it's just a video game lol.

I think that the game will still take place in the Milky Way galaxy.  They might do a little retconning on the size though.  With the help of the Mass Relays, the galaxy felt small. I mean, it’s still huge obviously, but with the Mass Relays they could bunny hop from one end to the other in a matter of days or minutes.

I feel that the one thing that they might push is scale. Casey said it himself. Everything is larger, immense, expansive and my favorite word, GARGANTUAN.  They could be exploring the “empty spaces” between the points we already know exist to emphasis is put on how much space there actually is between stars and planets.

I’m just speculating of course. We all are.

Well, one way to make it feel big again is to let planets be PLANETS and not corridors to shoot through ;)

Ok, but homogenising the endings is hardly different to not making them in the first place.

And if they didn't do anything significant and lasting to the galaxy, why did we make them?

What was the point of the decision? What was the point of the trilogy at all?

I agree 100%.  I loved that part the best on ME1.  (and the citadel too) Even though all of them were 99% empty and frustrating to navigate everything had a sense of scale that is lacking from the other 2.

ME3 had the least amount of exploration.

The point of the trilogy was to have fun and experience a cool story and interact with cool characters. The ending of ME3 wasn't the whole trilogy. Simplifying the endings is not at all comparable to not having them at all - it just makes them easier to incorporate them into a sequel and still have it actually be feasible.

I wouldn't call planet scanning "exporation" but yes, driving around with the Mako made the ME universe feel huge.

This part is really cool - "pick a planet, fly there and see what to discover." (http://www.engadget....ss-effect-e3/ …) #MassEffect

Since we are all speculating here.....

Casey Hudson says on the video the following:

"As we start designing the next mass effect game, we start by asking  fans what they want. what mass effect means to them.  one of the things the fans have told us most about what they want in the next mass effect game is to go somewhere new, and to go forward."

so in theory (beside the post in the forum where casey asks what we think for the next ME) they have asked. does this make that post from the (pax was it?) "leak" real?

if so we have a ton of info there!

The PAX leak looks more or less accurate, yes.

Big, expansive environments, personal vehicles for travelling around (hey, DA is doing multiple mounts), a protagonist that somehow incorporates "N7" into their armour design, and advanced armour concepts that look different to Shepard's trilogy.

The only thing they haven't shown is the new alien races concepts, and the closeups of the existing races' new faces in Frostbite.

If I had to guess, ME Dentist will have playable alien races, too.

It was great to see the concept teaser, but at the same time it looks like the next Mass Effect may be a long way out.  Double edged sword.

What is ME dentist?

Oh, just an in-joke name for the next ME.

Rumours say it's actually "Mass Effect: Contact", but people teased it by saying it was Mass Effect: _ _ N _ _ _ T

Which fits Contact or Dentist :P

But there wasn't a single specific detail in that leak that would validate the whole thing thx to new details we got yesterday. The leaker didn't describe black/orange armor with N7 logo, no skeletal new alien races in sign, no mention of Krogan with horns, nothing

Maybe it was! One of words in the trailer!

it could be

ME: Somewhere or ME: Pick a planet

I thought so myself, TBH. If so, my bet would be on "Horizon" at 0:45...

It's more of the vibe of the thing. I'm fairly sure that when they do start unveiling more information, it will include skeletal aliens, a mysterious rock guardian species, and personalised vehicles like the Mako.

The leaker certainly described a renewed focus on "N7" symbolism and imagery, which was all over those amour sets and will presumably play a big role in the advertising.

"What does N7 mean to you?", "Shepard's legacy", "Spirit of N7", etc.

I fear that the next ME is Mass Effect Online and would be like  ESO, SWtOR, Destiny and Mass Effect all rolled into one giant letdown.

The othe fear I have is the next ME will be Mass Effect Inquisition and build a plot with Vega and the Catalyst or another previously antagonistic character as the wingmen to the new hero.

Then they're deliberately ignoring two player choices. They're actually retconning them, and setting a canon, which Casey specifically said they wouldn't be doing.

Setting it in another galaxy ignores none of them.

They all happened, we just never see the consequences - because the consequences were already shown in the ending slides and videos of Extended Cut.

They are not retconning. What you did happened in your game. It is showing one possible future, the consequences of a single decision. It is not saying it is the best, simply the best base to write another story from.

Setting a canon ignores 3 out of 4 of the players choices. Setting it in another galaxy to avoid the players choice is ignoring all of them. And leaves the problem if they ever want to return.

Just got out of a meeting to name 3 conference rooms in the studio. Verdict: Asimov, Clarke & Herbert. Some days, I'm just proud to be here.

When do you all think we'll find out more about ME4? Do you think there'd be anything at Comic con? I remember that Bioware started talking about the future of the Dragon Age franchise there before Inquisition was announced.

At this point I think it's written in the stars that the next major chunk of info will be at N7 day.

We'll probably hear a few more vague #nocontext hints before then though.
