This is exactly what I was thinking. The fact that we see humans and the N7 logo debunks prequels set in the distant past like the Protheans. The appearance of humans in NME still makes it possible for the game to be a prequel, but to counter this we have the 'more advanced technology' and 'war torn planets'. This for me is a big indication that the game is a sequel. (Which is probably no surprise).

The N7 armor and war torn environments however suggest that the game is set not far after the other three Mass Effect games. Otherwise you'd assume N7 might be surpassed by other military ranks and the rubble has been cleared. (Although the rubble might be from another war.)

So my guess will be that NME will be set between a decade and a hundred years after the events of ME3. The Galaxy is still war torn and new problems arise, like the resurrected Rachni. the Krogans, Warring Factions, new spacefaring factions like the Yahg, pirates and shortages on technology and resources. Destroy will be the canon-ending because it writes out the Reapers the easiest way and still leaves the galaxy in a war torn state. (With control you rebuild the galaxy with the reapers, with synthesis you create some sort of a utopian society.) This is where I would put my money on.

I agree with this. Based on the little shown, we at least know it is during the timeline of the trilogy or after, solely because they shown N7 armor. But until we get a definite answer everything is still speculation.

Also the destroy ending is more easily explainable and more realistic. Plus in control and synthesis, the Citadel Races can have the Reapers as their defense force and any threat will be nothing because if the Citadel Races cant handle it, they can just ask for their help and it's over. Even if the reapers didn't rebuild/repair after the war, the amount left over without the catalyst cheatcodes they had to use to defeat the reapers, they can easily defeat the complete and healthy galaxies armies all over again.

I doubt it'll be a Gamescom announce right before DA:I launches.

Looking at N7 Day/VGX Awards now.

I will say that it's been pretty interesting to read about people's expectations and predictions for the new Mass Effect, especially since the E3 video.

So, anything we've gotten right yet in terms of predictions, or are totally missing the mark?

It would be pretty telling if I gave you any sort of answer on that question, wouldn't it? :)

Yes, and we definitely deserved to get some more info about the new ME before Gamescom or PAX. Please. :crying:

I guess we have to wait for BioWare people on these forums or on twitter to be drunk before we can pry any illicit info from them.  Disappointing.

Was worth a try. You could still give a vague answer though. You know we love those :)

Or just until we're ready to give you the information properly.

Yeah, but a vague answer would still be looked into enough for some outlet to turn into an article, and where would we be then? I'd prefer to avoid getting into a situation where I'm told of for allowing my answers to turn into things like that. I commend you for trying, but loose lips sink ships (SHIPS CONFIRMED), and I think you'll survive the wait.

Perhaps it is set in the far future. How else would they reference the original trilogy?

Boats are confirmed? Are we talking about dinghies or yachts? Maybe pontoon boats.  :D

How passionate our team is about diversity in games makes me proud. Fun fact: As you walk into the BWM ME area, you're greeted by FemShep :D

Barrett Rodych @ForgedPixels

@MarieBrisebois It's a fairly angry looking greeting, but I think she's just looking out for Reapers or Cerberus.
