They could try. The idea is that the game would start a few centuries or whatever after resettlement, so the new colony has had time to grow. Not to mention they'll be interacting with civilizations native to that galaxy. Anyway, this discussion really shouldn't continue in this thread.Ok, but they knew they couldn't hide from the Reapers and even if some of them would leave they would be very few to build a new galaxy (cities etc).

idk but I've got a sudden sinking feeling in my heart... Bioware is plotting something dastardly I can feel it.

I think it's just a reaction to those meetings Jos mentioned on the previous page
like, 'Whoa, we're making something awesome!' Wouldn't read anything beyond that into it at this point.

Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekes
My brief foray into flavor text for Mass Effect 1 read, "Shoot enemies in the hit points until their XPs fall out." Hopefully I've improved.

Ok, I know I'm reading into this, but I want to couch this tweet in the context of the statements made in the un-reveal reveal:
I don't see how staying w/in the Milky Way translates into "going somewhere new", "...surprised by how far we're going", or being in for "one hell of a ride".
Think about how awesome it would be to experience "history" in the Mass Effect universe: To travel to a new galaxy! Now THAT sounds more like a game that embraces exploration and wants to "move forward" to a "whole new region of space".

I think part of the game will take place in the Milky Way, but we'll be going to a new galaxy as well.

But how would that surprise anyone?
If we explore new regions inside the Milky Way they(devs) will have a lot of freedom to create diferent things. We don't need to leave to make new things.

That embarrassing thing where you script a combat and you forget to set one little setting.that completely ruins it.

I really don't think that you should take that too literally. It's dev talk used to build hype and can mean literally anything. It could also be something like "Guns are outlawed and everyone uses medieval weapons now." Would certainly be surprising.

"surprised by how far we'll go" sounds like they're talking about distance to me, not new regions adjacent to the old.
