Eyes. Hence, why Sheploo looked so freaky at certain moments in ME2. Smile on his face but dead in the eyes. ME3 got it right, for the most part.

Eyes, definitely.
That's why hair and headpieces that obscure the face is one of my pet peeves.
we could say that you go for the eyes.....................BOO

Bioware jellybeans? What flavor are they?
More importantly, there are yellow, pink, orange, white and possible purple/black jelly beans. MOAR COLORS = MOAR ENDINGS!!! LULZ

They originally came only in RGB but fan complaints made them redesign those colors, so now they come in crimson, mint and azure.

Whole face. All aspects are important. Compare Jack to Miranda - developed (most likely) with the same technology for the same game. Jack's face model looks much more realistic, while with Miranda there's something "off" about her face. Not necessarily about eyes, mouth area and skin are important too

I suppose that if I have to narrow it down then I will be the whole face. Most of Shepard's squad looked good in ME2 and ME3 but there are a few examples were things could have been improved. Jacob, Miranda and Allers never looked 100% right with me. With Jacob and Miranda I often felt that their heads were too big for their bodies, some of this comes down to the skin tight ( and unflattering ) clothing they wear, you're essentially looking at at a nude body and a head so you pay more attention to the faces. I also feel that something went wrong with Allers and Miranda's face models. They look almost nothing like the actresses they were based on, the chins, the cheeks, the eyes, the mouths, the noses, the hair, it all looks wrong.Whole face. All aspects are important. Then there's default female Shepard in ME3. I could on about her forever but I will just say the character model did not look anything like the concept art.
Overall Mass Effects aliens are some of the best character models I have seen last generation ( Wrex, Grunt, Garrus, Thane ), it's the human characters that need more work.

Yeah I think its pretty ironic that for all the skintightness of certain human characters in Mass Effect, that only encouraged people to look for imperfections about how their faces were modeled.
But that's what happens, I guess. Should have given Miranda some actual bloody armor.

Never really noticed that. I thought there was something oddly off putting about Jack's face, though. Maybe it was her lips. Too thick and made up for a convicted criminal, perhaps.

I don't understand. Words and text on the internet do not have a smell. Wait. Do they?

You know the answer to this every time you or another dev drop a little bit of a hint/tease. You can "smell" the desperation in our words as we type for more!

I have no idea what desperation would smell like.

I think this is simply the fact that BioWare tried to make Miranda look like her voice actress as in a real life person whereas Jack was just made to look like concept. Because there are limitations with any morphing tool you can't quite get the human look if you know what i mean. Somewhat easier with male Shepard because the face was fairly basic, short hair buzz cut etc.
