Cookie-baking mini-game in Mass Effect: Next confirmed!
Had the best end to the work week. I think we are *really* close on finalizing something with huge implications on the game.
I was testing explicitly MP for ME3, but looks like a procedural look-at bug where Shep's head-facing target is for some reason behind him, or possibly set to null or something along those lines. I suspect bugs like that are incredibly rare or random to reproduce (perhaps 99% of the time it works fine), and if programming doesn't know the circumstances of how a thing happens, they won't have a great idea of where to start to fix it. I'm not sure how frequent that look-at bug occured, but I suspect infrequency is one of the main reasons it made it into ship. It was probably considered a fairly minor issue too, compared to other things like rare crashes or memory leaks which take heavy priority and team focus towards cert and ship.
Patching can get even more strict in deciding what things to fix. Even the smallest tweak of content change can cause a lot of physical data to be changed, which would make a patch larger and larger for every small fix, so minor issues can get the axe even sooner post-ship to keep under patch cert limits.
There are a lot of other factors too, but that's probably the brunt of it. Plus seeing youtube vids of hilarious bugs and bloopers makes me smile.
Yah. This glitch kept happening when we talked about Glyph on Liara's Room. And then since he kept moving around, Shep would follow him.

Sooo... San Diego

(I know it's probably innocuous but that didn't stop me from internally screaming for a second)
Mass Effect developers from the Edmonton and Montreal studios discuss what it's like to expand on a well-established and beloved video game franchise. Panelists Carl Boulay (lead animator), Fabrice Condominas (producer), Mike Gamble(producer), Noel Lukasewich (senior artist), and Jessica Merizan (community manager), share their experiences in shaping the next Mass Effect game with new possibilities while staying true to the critically acclaimed series. Moderated by Nerdist.com.

A lot has changed since Dark Horse first released Mass Effect: Redemption #1 back in 2010. For the first time ever, video game franchises found a legitimacy in comics that had been practically unheard of previously. Adding new titles to a line of comics and deluxe art books, which includes the bestselling Hyrule Historia: The Legend of Zelda, the publisher now works with some of the biggest studios and brands in the business. Get news and announcements on everything from Tomb Raider, Plants vs. Zombies, The Witcher, Dragon Age, HALO, Naughty Dog Studios, and of course, Mass Effect!
Sounds like a new comic series on the way?
I'm actually in San Diego next week for a conference but will just be leaving as comic con is starting up. Timing just a bit off. Hopefully we get a wee trickle of new info from there.
Show some trailer or screenshot plissssssss
I would like a new comics series.

that would be great....
Maybe something to work as a brigde between the old and the new games.
It'll be interesting to see how they'll go about chronicling the development of the game without revealing anything substantial about it.
Attending @Comic_Con? Join us Sat 2PM for our panel on the next @masseffect, moderated by our friends @NerdistDotCom! http://comiccon2014.sched.org/event/b917c7e8299eb370ba3c064be38d3c7b?iframe=no#.U8QpFvldVXF …
San Diego Comic Con is a tremendous experience. Everyone (the celebrities, the cosplayers, the workers, the security, etc.) are just so nice! Even though I worked the show floor, I didn't feel like I missed anything. Ran into Michael Gamble at the Capcom booth he was checking out. Cool dude!
If you can go, even for a day, I think it would be so worth it.
Do you all think there will be a way to stream it? If not, it will probably be archived and on YouTube later, right?
Most (if not all) of these panels end up on YouTube, so you would probably catch them there.
Damn, i'd love to go to an E3 or a comicon or a one of those fancy gaming stuff. but alas, i'm SO far away, and eve farther away money wise.
I've got plenty of those. More on the bloopers side, but there are some bugs too. Spoilered because it's shameless self-promotionPlus seeing youtube vids of hilarious bugs and bloopers makes me smile.
I'm planning what to talk about in the #SDCC panel. Got any suggestions? (don't ask about release date)
@GambleMike I would like to hear about space. Can you talk about space? #space
They'll talk about the game the same way they talked about it in the teaser trailer, being incredibley vague & giving absolutely nothing away what so ever.
Help us make the next Mass Effect game the best one yet. Id appreciate it if you folks did this short survey... https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/69HFZTS
