Yeah. Just... Yeah. I ain't even mad bro (well a little, lol)
im starting to get hyped now .. this is not good since the game is probably still fare away ![]()
Return of the Mako! Yes! New and improved, baby!
Focus on exploration! HELL YEAH!
Extensive customization! HELL TO DA YEAH!
Seriously, I have no idea what you guys are complaining abo...
(old characters MAY appear) !!

Also, I don't give a single crap about MP, co-op or otherwise, and I seriously hope SP will not suffer because of the heavy emphasis on MP (if I'm forced to engage in MP to unlock a certain ending/character/mission/readiness rating analogue I swear I will start smashing things and beating people up with a three-week-old baguette).
Perhaps the follow-up to Godwin's Law should be Gambles' Law: every thread involving Mass Effect is doomed to discuss the Mass Effect 3 endings.
BioWare's Facebook page said they will post the panel, which is good news--we can see the Mako in action, at least. I am surprised we have heard so few impressions or notes on the panel.
Just the throw my 2 cents out there. EVERYONE I know in RL and most of the people I know through the interwebs did NOT like the ending to ME3. These are people who've been with Mass Effect since it's announcement in 2005. That was sophomore year in high school for me. I'm in my second year of medical school now, so a lot of time has passed. As a long standing fan, the ending didn't do the trilogy justice. It felt tacky and last minute which ended up being the actual case.
I know there are people out there that actually liked the trilogy's ending, but I'm sure that the vast majority of ME's core fan group did not, which is probably one of the reasons the blow back on Bioware was so ubiquitous.
Anyways to get on topic. I wasn't expecting much today. But I was at least hoping for a title and few more concept arts. Either way, I'll with hold judgement for now. I just really hope Bioware gets it right this time.
I know I'm gonna hurt the little RPG nerds feeling with this comment, but.....
Mass Effect needs a comp multiplayer suite. It always has and always will. Enough of the casual derptard coop games we've been seeing lately. Put some comp in the next game and. AND. Have a great Single player. You can do both.
That is all.
I'm glad it is a "side story" - there are 2 years between ME 1 and ME 2 where the reapers haden't shown up yet and only a few people knew about them, Shepard was being rebuilt and the rest of the galaxy was going it's own mary way, 2 years is a long time to set a story in and you don't have to mess about with ME 3's endings.
Seems to work fine to me.
I've seen a couple of people say that the Next Mass Effect is a side story, now—what makes you say that? Something from the panel?
Actually, Yes, The majority hated it. I'm neutral towards the ending, And i choose Synthesis. But the plot is weak. All polls on all sites indicate that the ending is hated massively.
Actually, no. The majority of gamers don't take the time out of their day to ****** and moan on internet forums and vote on polls.
Side story? did i miss something?

People call it a "side story" because it takes place during the Shepard story.

I know of 2 people out of the 11 or 12 or so that play Mass Effect on my friends lists that liked the ending of ME3.
If you want a really good snapshot of how people reacted to the ending when it came out, look no further:
http://forum.bioware...ntain-spoilers/
That thread is basically an impromptu poll on the game. All you have to do to see what people generally thought about the ending is read through it. 79 pages of reviews by people who didn't necessarily hate the whole game, over 2000 posts... and you'll be hard-pressed to find more than a handful who list the ending as a strength.People who hated the ending, on the other hand, dominate every page.
As of the SDCC panel, I'm Interested! If it really is a side story, it could easily be elements of the Council deciding to send a "Noah's Ark" to another galaxy through some kind of fancy one-time-only transport, hoping that the colony can survive the Reaper threat, and then eventually return to the original galaxy before the next cycle begins. Could kick ass!

You wanna live in a delusional world where you ignore all statistics, Be my guest. But count me out of this conversation.

Please stop saying it's a side story. There is no evidence it is a side story. If there is, please show it.
You wanna live in a delusional world where you ignore all statistics, Be my guest. But count me out of this conversation.
If we're going to pull statistics into this, surely you realize that every single poll on the internet, simply intrinsically, is not representative.
Thus, you cannot make any valid conclusions from them about all ME players. You can only make conclusions about ME players on the internet who saw those polls. And even then, the only conclusions you can draw are meaningless things like "80% of the people on the internet who saw this poll who decided to respond didn't like the ending."
People call it a "side story" because it takes place during the Shepard story.
Right, that's what I am confused about. No tweet I see has said that it takes place during the Shepard trilogy. Is there something I am missing?
I don't see any guns, is it just for exploration?
That's a disappointment.

Seems strongly implied that new Mass Effect will be set in totally different galaxy, but will contain familiar elements. #SDCC
Why do I get the feeling that this is going to get more controversial as time goes on....
I'm really hope it's not a side story. I personally don't think it will, seeing how they want to go away from Shepard's story.
From somone on Twitter who was at the panel
https://twitter.com/...es/with_replies
-"Seems strongly implied that new Mass Effect will be set in totally different galaxy, but will contain familiar elements. #SDCC"
-"Not playing as Shepherd, and Shepherd is not important to story - new uncharted areas. #SDCC"
-"Mako is back in Mass Effect! More agile, no cannon. #SDCC"
-"New Mass Effect is focused on exploration of planets, Mako is meant to be fast travel on them. #SDCC"
-[Note]: Nerd Appropriate (one of the original tweeters) also said it sounded like another galaxy but they need to double check their audio recording.
And why does it need a comp multiplayer?
I've always thought it did and it's a missed opportunity. But I also never thought that Mass Effect was a try'd and true RPG neither. I always thought it was an 3rd person shooter/RPG hybrid, so I didn't get my jimmies rustled when the series became a better and more complete TPS with ME2 and ME3.
It has everything you need in a comp TPS shooter, it has classes, it has distinct weapons with damage models, it has relatively responsive hit reg and tickrate (although it is running on Frostbite 3 now, so.... that might not be the case anymore, lol), it has good player movement and responsiveness (especially ME3). It could be a great comp TPS, if done right.
New galaxy!!!

Right, that's what I am confused about. No tweet I see has said that it takes place during the Shepard trilogy. Is there something I am missing?
Yep. People are bored being outraged by the things Bioware actually said and are now moving on to making stuff up.
