Right, that's what I am confused about. No tweet I see has said that it takes place during the Shepard trilogy. Is there something I am missing?

Too be honest, I could give 2 sh!ts about the narrative. I just want great exploration, good customization and skill tress, great gameplay, and too shoot things in the face. Also a decent MP suite would be nice.

That link isn't working for me. All I can find is Gambles latest tweet that responds to a question regarding whether or not the next game takes place during the trilogy, and he says "not ready to talk about those specifics" yet.

Basically, it's just like the one Shepard saved, sans reaper war? Like a reset back to Mass Effect 2? It kind of seems like a cop-out, but I'd want more info on how this galaxy differs from the other one, if indeed that's the case.

He wants to introduce the exciting elements of trolling, lag switching and ultimately cheat mods into Mass Effect Multiplayer, i.e. competitive MP.

As of the SDCC panel, I'm Interested!  If it really is a side story, it could easily be elements of the Council deciding to send a "Noah's Ark" to another galaxy through some kind of fancy one-time-only transport, hoping that the colony can survive the Reaper threat, and then eventually return to the original galaxy before the next cycle begins.  Could kick ass!

Wouldn't even have to be a 'Noah's Ark' sent by the Council due to the reaper threat.....if going with the idea of a 'exploration' a exploration crew could have been sent out sometime before the start of the ME series.....or possibly after ME1 when the humans get a seat on the council. Since the Council did decide to bury their heads in the proverbial sand regarding the reapers until it was too late.

 

Could totally see the Asari and Salarian Councilors going "tra-la-la, Let's send some science crews out exploring"

Thinking about the whole idea of the Council sending a "Noah's Ark" due to the reaper threat.....messy. Would the "Noah" crew just be there to go into hiding and find a safe haven to sit out the war? (kind of pointless unless they make it back to the MWG after the reaper war is over or are they sending a large enough crew of each of the various species (or in cryo) to re-seed their species on new planets? What if all the new planets are a different DNA?base  than Dextro or Levo(sp?)...potentially a large portion of the Noah crew would die) Would the Noah crew be there to explore to find a way to help defeat the reapers? (messy.....they'd need to make it back to the MWG, or kind of fail in their mission (I'd hate to play where I get given a mission to complete and it's kind of pointless).....and if they do find stuff that might help....well then that would need to somehow get tied into ME3 otherwise what's the point of doing the mission, don't think BW'd want to touch that). That's why I think if it is a Council-sponsored exploration crew, it's going to have nothing to do with the Reapers and Shepard's storyline (may be concurrent.....but not connected)

Based on that tweet alone, we know Gamble is (as per usual  ) avoiding the topic of the setting for the new game. That is hardly confirmation for the next game taking place as a side story, especially considering other people from the panel have said that it sounds like the game is taking place in another galaxy.

 

Let's just wait until the full recording appears from BioWare before assuming anything of that nature.

Well first of all the only famillier races you'll meet are the once that came with you so expect only few asari, krogan etc etc - also there will be no famillier goverments - in fact everything is alien to everybody.
