Warning wild and pretty much unfounded speculation ahead.

This is how i guess it will function - you start of as a captain of some space vessle crewed with humans a couple of asari, some Krogan and (insters some of the other races) - so the vessle stumble on some ancient gate/artifact or whatever

Mass-Effect-4..png

ZAP your ship is in a new galaxy ..where your ship crash on some planet.

rsz_mass_effect_4_e3_2014.jpg?resize=590

And now you have to explore to first fix your ships and then travel around meeting new aliens and perhaps try to find a way home?

Mass-Effect-4.jpg

So stranger in a strange land ..

/speculation.

That second screenshot looks an awful lot like it's on Tuchanka.

You brought some of the old galaxy races with you and your ships old galaxy tech (also the mako) - after all it would make sense that the crew of the old galaxy ship made up the bulk of your squard.

That's fair, though I'd say it would need more than a bunch of Asari, Turians, and Salarians to qualify.

I don't mind the idea, but I personally would prefer something a bit more social. I like exploration, but I wanna explore the Citadel.

Pictures like that make me feel sad. You'd expect scenes like that in a developing country, not the richest nation in the world.

Well i just speculated a bunch but for all we know there can be hundreds onboard the ship - and the citadel has been explored in 3 games, personally i can wait to meet something new and utterly wierd.

Honestly, what I need right now is for one of the devs to reassure me that this is going to be a Mass Effect game. That even though the Mako is now a Salarian land-rover with no guns, even though Shepard is gone, that this is going to feel like a Mass Effect game and that instead of drastically changing everything they just build upon and improve.

It's going to be, and feel like, a Mass Effect game. I hope I can say this as a a dev who's also a fan, who loved ME1 to pieces even before ever thinking I'd become a BioWare employee for ME2, 3, and beyond.

I dont suppose we have any clue who is doing the music for it do we? Itd be nice to have Jack Wall back, and of course Sam Hulick. That IMHO is rather important for making the game feel like Mass Effect.

It's really great to hear that. I don't know why, but just seeing such a drastic change in the Mako and all this talk of completely different Galaxies is making me feel unsure, like this isn't going to be anything like what the original trilogy was. I don't really know what to think at the moment. Hope we get some really solid info soon so I can make up my mind.

I know I've said this loads in this thread, but I want to be able to go to the Citadel, Omega etc - places that I know AS WELL as exploring new places. I'm all for the focus on exploration (even in that new Mako) but I don't want to lose all the stuff I've grown to love over the past few years in the process.

Yeah, it used to be a decent city. No.... It's just a shanty town.

You guys are doing your best, and you've got big shoes to fill after the trilogy. Don't take anything anyone has said here personally. My only issue is with PR strategy, and that's not your department anyway.

I like it, more a Hummer than an APC like the Mako of ME1.

Oh I've got extensive experience with that "interesting" engine. Just try and make sure you don't have death shields, massive model desync and hit reg errors all over the place.

I don't mean like they're starting over. I think they're just gonna scrap the whole Shepard and import thing and the Reapers and all that jazz.

I do not think any choices nor outcomes of your respective play through of Mass Effect 1,2, or 3 will have any clout or "player agency" in the next game.

"Reimagining" might be a better term.

And I really hope so.  I love the setting, but I don't want to be reminded of Shepard or the events that happened in the trilogy.  It's would just be depressing.

Yeah. I agree. No Shepard reminders unless you know, you are Shepard.

I think you will get more or less what you wish for, even though i strongly suspect a post-ME3 setting. And I'm happy with that. It's better to let the first trilogy and this game be separate, with references and cameos here and there. It would be cool to meet Wrex and Liara, or even EDI again.

Edit: I've said for a long time that ME:N should take a similar approach to Star Trek: The Next Generation. The events of the original are referenced, and occasionally, we get to meet an old face, but it isn't a direct sequel. I'm still hopeful this is what we'll get.

As long as bullets and hit reg doesn't do this, it's a good start-

So we have people making up "facts". Then other people treat them as actual facts and start complaining at Bioware.
