I have caught up with most of the tweets and the discussions/comments on the thread about the panel.
There are way too many assumptions going on to know where we stand on the next game in the Mass Effect franchise. Is it a sequel? A side-quel? A What-if-quel? I just do not know.
Now I haven't watched the full panel yet, so my opinions are based only on tweets and other fellow comments, but:
I am bit confused because I thought the panel was more about "how they got there," or how the next Mass Effect is coming into focus. It didn't feel like we learned why or how we got to this point in the creation of the next Mass Effect.
As we get closer to more information becoming available about the next Mass Effect, the vision is getting more cloudy. It should be getting clearer.

- @masseffect #SDCC - You will see a bit of old with the new (old characters MAY appear) !!
In other words: Liara and Garus.
Pictures like that make me feel sad. You'd expect scenes like that in a developing country, not the richest nation in the world.
I don't think Detroit belongs to Qatar or Singapore.
On the other hand, in my opinion, another "we have exciting new things for you guys" that ends up with a Mako pic and a confirmation that there will be a female/male playable character. Exciting and new, indeed .......
As summer reaches its zenit I hope and expect we don't get anything new up until Oct/November. Although, being honest, I prefer some long time passes to see actually something "exciting" instead of confirmation of the most obvious things. Next step seems to be presenting in August as "exciting" that there will be weapons
In other words: Liara and Garus.
That would be the worst. Meeting old characters while not being Shepard yet knowing everything Shepard would know...
Stupid.

Okay one last one for the @masseffect crew -- have some Miranda (currently telling stories at #NERDHQ ) @Y_Strahovski http://tmi.me/1eBcs7 pic.twitter.com/php3dyCD2q

I agree, but those two are like known by every single mass-effect fan. They are like mascots in a way.

I wonder if Miranda could be alive in ME4..
Jesus Christ. Yvonne Strahovski is the greatest evidence that God might be real.

Miranda from ME3:
May I ask why you don't like ME3's Miri?
Well, there is two sides about it, but they are closely connected. She is extremely underused and when she is there, she doesn't sound like Cerberus second in command. All she talk is her sister and things that are mostly irrelevant. She also doesn't have any memorable scene at all.
But the crime against her character is that we can't take her with us in the storming of Cerberus HQ and she doesn't have a conversation with TIM. That's butchery.
And we never got to see that sweet ass bare.

Well, the camera focused on her... assets in ME3 more than it did in ME2.
And we never got to see that sweet ass bare.
thats what the mods are for XD

I agree. Miranda needed more screen time in ME3. But I like how she becomes serious about our relationship in ME3. Also, Miranda had a couple of lines in ME2 Romance that really bothered me, Like when she says that she doesn't have what Shepard has, The fire that makes people follow him to hell itself. And when you attempt your second hit on her, I hoped there'd be a line in which I say that her father isn't the reason for her success, The way she handled those genes is what made her great. Any idiot could have heavy genetic modifications and still be an utter idiot. Look at Jack for example, Despite all attempts to make her a powerful biotic, She ended up being the bitchiest biotic ever. Gillian Grayson is also a notable person who used her abilities correctly.
Just watched the Escapist News update vid on ME'4'
Did Mike really say the game was years away at the panel? so Q4 2016-17?
If this is the case i better turn my hype metre way down and maybe focus on things coming out in the next year.

2016-17? Jeez, so for 3 years I gotta be super careful when driving, operating heavy machinery, or handling raw eggs.

I've lurked in this thread for some time now. Just saw this vid and the way the reporter emphasizes years away...well I do want a great game but I wish they'd tell us how many years is years. Two, three, four, or more...
