Found this on YouTube. So far this is the only footage I have seen from the SDCC panel.
I fired off a tweet to Nerd Appropriate to see whether they also caught the "years away" remark.

Why call that vehicle Mako? It's not that similar with the one from ME1...Why not call it something else? ![]()
So we have people making up "facts". Then other people treat them as actual facts and start complaining at Bioware.
Yep. BSN toxic levels are resurging from the darkest corners of internet
At the end of that video she says the game is years away... was this like, said by a dev or is just exaggerating? Are we going to be waiting multiple years for this game?

Yeah, at first I thought they should just dub it as an "exploration-class" Mako and keep the old one in the game too (maybe not playable, but in existence) but now I think it should have a completely different name. The Mako was the big thing with a huge gun on the top - this isn't.
Alright, I have to ask, Why is Jack even likable in your opinion?
She's a psycho, yes (who the hell looked at her resume and thought "Hmm, clearly a candidate for a scholastic career. We should unleash her at the kids as soon as possible."), but she's a fun, straightforward psycho without any cry-me-a-river daddy issues. Actually, and this is what appeals to me the most, there is absolutely no cry-me-a-river of any kind with Jack. She's the only one who doesn't immediately buy into the ridiculous "Shepard the galactic messiah" BS, not to mention she's got some of the best one-liners of the series.
So in summary: She's fun, straingtforward, and, dare I say, less qq more pew pew.
Although I'm taking the "In Shepard's lifetime" with a grain of salt, this presents a problem for the games story already. Whatever bad guy we fight is going to be chump change compared to the reapers and there is no getting around this fact if the timeline placement is true. Whatever we do will be insignificant at best and completely meaningless at the worst. From what I've seen of the Mako sections it's probably going to be solid but from here on out the story and time placement are what's going to be the biggest concern.
The Mako they showed today is a concept, Mike Gamble said in the beggining of the panel that everything they've shown there can change in the future.
I saw Yvonne Strahovski at SDCC 2 years ago. Quite lovely. Wasn't allowed to take a picture with her due to signings and schedule, but did sneak an outside shot during those signings.

Regardless of what we got today, I think we owe Hrungr a big thank you for having kept us up to date with Mass Effect and Dragon Age tweets thought Comic Con, and in general. Time for you to take a rest, you deserve it ![]()

Well ****.

Thank you Hrungr and many more thank yous in advance for whatever you do in the following info drops.
New galaxy? No thanks. Looks like bioware is too afraid to touch Shepard and endings. Disappointing. Mako looks good.
Possibly set in Shepard's lifetime and old characters may appear.
Hmmm...does anyone else think that may mean a sequel set in the immediate aftermath of ME3? Or at least if by old characters it is referring to old companions and not just minor characters like Bailey or Tevos.
Also both the Mako and armor concepts differed from what we saw in ME3, which could also point to being further along on the timeline.

Oh, I like the new Mako a little better now that I see which way it's facing. From the first pictures I assumed the 'heavy' end was facing forward and it looked weird. Still not completely sold, but it's at least better than my initial impression ![]()
Looking back now, I don't know why I thought it was facing the other way. There are no visible windows or anything... Guess I didn't look very hard.

I am having trouble expressing a socially comfortable level of excitement. Everything I want to write is full of explicit and over-the-top sexual innuendo.

Wuhu, I am excited. Yet scared for the long wait. "years to go"?. Bioware is ruining my real life.
Sometimes I wish I was a reporter, so I did not have to listen to the whiny nasal american reportervoice (pretty girl, but that voice would kill me in the end) . I can do girl with long hair and say I like ME... *sight*
I'm also thinking that "within Shepard's lifetime" actually means within his natural lifespan and not during the trilogy, which could set it anywhere from 2186 to a little beyond 2300, really, most likely between 2200 and 2250. At least that's what I'm hoping - and by the looks of the Mako and especially the new protagonist's armor, it looks more like it's set somewhere in that future than a sidequel. Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense to make it look like the technology advanced from what we last saw, or the hints of a post-war environment that we've seen in the teaser.
I would like to extend my personal thanks to all people involved who took the time and effort to seek out, collect and bring us this information. You guys did an incredible job, wow.
But speaking as someone who, due to reasons of geography, was unable to follow the information coming in live just logged in this morning to go through the new pages and pages of info and comments - damn, you guys are negative as hell. While I have not been witness to such development before, these forums do indeed turn toxic FAST. It is not my intention to insult anyone here, but if you take a deep breath, a step back and then take a look at most of the contents here, it sounds a whole lot like whining.
Yes. I went there.
And I am saying this as someone who felt so thoroughly emotionally eviscerated by the ending of ME3 I am still yet to go through the finale of the trilogy sober. ME3 may have contributed to the overall deterioration of my liver but wow - I got nothing on you guys.
You get all this info, all this amazing concept art people infinitely more talented and experienced than any of us here dedicated overtimes, missed family events and countless work hours put into - AND - and I cannot stressed this enough - slogged through the miasma of negativity, self-entitlement and unappeasable criticism that these forums can apparently become at the drop of a hat - and, what is ever more astounding, they continue to slog through because they want to make you - the ungrateful, the entitled and the finicky - happy. They come out with it and say "we made this amazing thing we think is just so cool and we love and we want to share it with you and make you as excited by it as we are. Look. Look! Innit neat?" They want to give you a great video game. Video game. A thing you buy with your disposable income to run on your state-of-the-art dedicated gaming machine. And your reaction? "That is so lame." "oh gods, anything but THAT", "PRE-ORDER CANCELLED!" "Pshaw, whatever".
Constructive criticism, if thoughtful, warranted and, well, constructive, is all well and good, but seriously, most of the above comments read "they are not pandering to the personal preferences of ME and ME ALONE, therefore this game is going to be, like, the WORST THING EVER."
Not to mention that all the above negative attitude is based on not solid concrete information, but hearsay and hints. For crying out loud.
So take a deep breath and cheer the eff up. Or calm the eff down. Or do the eff whatever that moves you in a more positive direction - the details matter little, really; the only important one is the "eff" part.
As for my two cents:
- the new mako be bitchin. If it is customizable, the first thing it gets is neon underlighting, spinning LED rims and some kickass decals. The lack of gun turret, albeit surprising, makes me wonder about the effects it would have on the way the vehicle interacts with the environment - does this mean there will be no vehicle combat? No big enemies in the vein of the colossus? If ambushed in vehicle, would my squad have to get out and engage them on ground? I, for one, am curious to learn more. Also - that thing can RUN. Straight off cliffs, it seems, but DAYUM.
- exploration is back. Yay!
- the exploration helmet sounds like SUCH an interesting concept. The art they showed of it also has me intrigued. It may be a little thing, but it shows how much thought and care was put into designing it. If something so little and, you may even say, inconsequential, gets this much attention, I am genuinely excited to see what was done with the bigger things.
- cool armor design. Gender choice not surprising, but boob-less armor a very interesting change. Also - armor customization, whee! The LED thingies on my armor shall match those on my MAKO - truly then, any enemy I encounter shall gaze upon the awesomeness that is my car and me and they shall know their doom has arrived and proceed to soil themselves in a mixture of awe and existential fear.
- the red armor looks better than blue.
That is all.
And seriously, guys, cheer the eff up. You were given a plateful of cookies and are about to shove them into the nearest trash can because they do not have YOUR favorite flavor of chocolate on them. Just...seriously. Okay?

I'm very skeptical of the sidequel claim. Almost as much as I am of the new galaxy claim. I'm going to take this all with a grain of salt until I can see the panel for myself. We've been told basically nothing, so people are leaping to conclusions, and not necessary in a very rational way.

Most of the people who are upset that I've seen are taking issue with the lack of concrete information we've been given about general setting and timeline, myself included. That's a legitimate PR criticism. It's also why we have people wildly leaping to conclusions and getting upset about that flavour of chocolate.
I don't know how much you took the time read, so I'll repeat what I said before. Bioware's PR has gone from the extreme of giving info which was subject to change (and thus giving people a false impression of the final product) to saying nothing of substance at all. Not even some very basic details about stuff which will have been locked in for months. I'm being optimistic and saying that this overcompensation is a natural reaction to their mistake, rather than just trolling us. Either way, it would be best for the fans and for Bioware if they find the healthy medium and tell us roughly where and when the game will take place. Not everyone will be happy with the answer. I may not be myself, but I think long time fans have earned the right to know regardless.
