The Mako came with a variety of hull color options, until bright colors were found to cause violent Thresher Maw mating behaviour. #MakoLove
Original Mako designs included a shark fin spoiler and teeth decals, but were removed after a shark leather seat scandal. #MakoFishy

@manveerheir Make an escort mission and then SET IT AFLAME.
@Joanna_Berry @manveerheir Also timed. No checkpoints. And lock out your normal inventory.

I want painted flames on the side of my Mako. And some flame spitting exhaust pipes! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehawwwwwwwwwwwwww
What if the armor looks so different because it's actually tailored for one of the new species?
It's one hell of a long shot, but Bioware isn't a stranger to making humanoid aliens.
Or tailored for a different purpose. Like extended time on foot in harsh environments on planet surfaces?
Think about it: In the ME games, if you landed on a planet with a harmful environment you were screwed. You either had to get back in the Mako OR you needed to avoid the hazard (e.g., Haestrom's sun).
I posted this in another area, but it bears repeating...
My thoughts:
While Shepard and Co., are trying to stop the Reapers, "Your Hero" and Co. are working on plan B; i.e., mass exodus from this galaxy. Preservation of life and civilization is a top priority. To put all eggs in one basket would be foolish. I am willing to bet that the story will involve "Your Hero" and Co. trying to find a way out of the Milky Way in case things go pear shaped. You'll be bouncing around the galaxy trying to find tech and resources to achieve that.
The game will end as a large contingent of the various civilizations escape the Milky Way during the end game of ME3. I imagine the final scene going like this:
Your Hero will land on a planet, exit the ship and look out at the horizon...similar to that scene with Joker at the end of ME3, yeah? ![]()
Your Hero will gaze out into the unknown galaxy from the bridge of some huge ship, staring at some awesome looking planet and moons.
I think the tone of the ending will be something like, "here we are...now what"?
snip
I think something that takes place during ME3 and in the same galaxy is really unlikely.
It feels like the game will be set afterwards, and somewhere new. A game about exploring this new environment seems to make more sense than something set during the Reaper War where we're running around in the same galaxy, again.
I agree with your theory, but I think all of that will happen before the game even starts. We'll be a stranger in a strange land.

@Sjosz I’m on my phone, but @regeener has done the best rendition of Mako/Hammerhead relationship. #OTP pic.twitter.com/PYDnNHRpxY
The Hammerhead became a hovertank after a punny executive noted Team Hammerhead were not huge fans of wheels and it stuck. #HammerheadPuns

The Hammerhead would set the bed afire.
But not in the fun way ![]()

The panel stated that the game will take place during Shepard's lifetime.

No, that was a fan speculating based on what they'd heard. That article even says it's "possible", not confirmed.
We really shouldn't quote Big Important Things from the panel until they've released the actual audio.
And they should release the audio as soon as possible, because people are going to keep misinterpreting things and making assumptions based on incorrect information.
The panel stated that the game will take place during Shepard's lifetime.
They haven't confirmed anything regarding time and location, even the article you posted says that.

"Billed as a "spiritual successor" to the first Mass Effect trilogy, the new game is still mostly a mystery, though it's said to take place during the later life of Commander Shepard."

He was dead, but he got better.
Ha! Well, he did die before.
Seriously, though: That subject is up for debate. Shep's alive at the end of my game, but that's MY game.
Eitherway, alive or dead: Shep ain't coming back to the ME games.
They haven't confirmed anything regarding time and location, even the article you posted says that.
Here's the quote from the first article, "it's possible the game could occur during Shepard's lifetime".
As far as "confirmed" goes: Given where they are with this, nothing is "confirmed".
"BioWare said that everything shown during the panel has the potential to change before the game's release, which is likely still years away."

Now, I never picked Control; however, if Shepard is the new space ghost...then Shepard's "lifetime" is very long. LOL
