To me, it just seemed like, "Rah Rah, go DA:I!  But since it's N7 day, we might as well give you something."

And that's all we got.  Concept art.  What did that one guy say from Montreal?  The art people have pumped out over 1K images?  And we got shown, what?  6?  7?  I mean, it was great and all and it got to feed our imagination a tad.  But, that's about it.

Oh great, the Mass Effect Facebook-page is not accessible if you don't have a FB-account. There are people who don't want to use FB or live in countries that block the website.

Could somebody please upload the six pictures (not the screenshots, the Bioware-branded HQ-pictures) from yesterday to a service everybody can use.

Please.

Mm. First time seeing the pics on a computer screen as opposed to my phone. (Thanks a million for the computer lab, Campus Lodge apartments. Every now and then I get to experience the internet like the rest of ye.)

Yeah, this stuff is positively stunning.

They are really great. The natural vistas no so much not because they aren't beautiful, but because they would be common to any sci-fi work. The one with architecture though, now that's what I wanted to see. I think my favorite is the one with the small ship going into the sapce station, and the reason is, not only it's beautifull, but it feels different from the old trilogy. And I want that, I want a fresh start.

I dig architecture.  I like how Asari architecture was different from Turian (not that we saw much), the Prothean stuff had a unique feel.  For exploration, we will (hopefully, and from the looks of how things are headed) get to see more alien stuff, both old and new.

You have a while yet until you will need a new rig is my bet.  The ME: Next release is still a ways off, and its not like current games tax most semi-up to date PCs.

As for the Mako.....  I will reserve judgement.  A Mako with no gun is not a Mako - its just an ugly little smart car with donut tires and seating for 2 hobbits.  Once it is upgraded with a Mass Accelerator Cannon that can take out Thresher maws - THEN it becomes something more than a mini-van with an automatic transmission and a sign that says "I brake for Varren".  Makos are for killing things, not just drives in the park or on the back 40 acres.

I confess i also have some hard time calling this Mako....it's simply too different. The mako was pretty much a tank that could also be used as a exploration vehicle, this one looks smaller and it has no weapons. To me it's like saying a Cessna jet and a F5 are the same just because both can fly.

Well, anyway i am very eager to see more about the new races. I hope to see their design soon :)

Well thats what i thought, that the Mako would still need its weapon. I found where i read about the Mako being weaponless; http://www.gamenguid...of-new-hero.htm

If they do continue to go weaponless i dont think it'll work in a positive way for exploration.  Uncharted world, anything could be lurking and we're driving around in a defenseless vehicle that could be attacked at any moment! Weaponless vehicles, to me says exploration may be empty of life (at least in areas where we are driving the Mako) and i hope that doesnt happen. I wanna be driving and then suddenly, out from the ruins of a building a huge creature jumps in front of the Mako almost crushing it, hitting the brakes i then immediately reverse and start firing the Mako's main weapon all the while having to both watch where im driving (Could be reversing into a pit :P ) and also trying not to be killed!

...But hey thats just one of the things i'd like to see, the Mako with weapons! :D

Not needing weapons is a sure sign of saying peaceful exploration.  Frankly, it has little interest to me.  Even in ME1 you fought a Thresher Maw in order to recover Kahoku's men - sometimes as your very first SPECTRE assignment / destination.

I'm pretty sure they are just teasing us by not having the gun on it.  Otherwise, well, who wants a mini van to run around and explore with?

I think the vehicle will be customizable. Turrets and armor sacrificing mobility, better steering, discovering resources and such over a larger radius, threat detection etc.

As long as upgrades include a big gun, then its cool.  If not, I don't want it.  I'm not driving around in a 6 wheeled minivan.  Why even have one?  Why not just go with a flycycle?

A gunless Mako is not a Mako.  Its a soccer mom vehicle.

Or, it's a design decision to not do vehicle combat and focus on the on-foot gunplay.

DAI's system works the same way. Mounts are for exploration, not combat.

ME1's encounters on the uncharted planets were broken precisely because the Mako was so overpowered.

Today I'm announcing @thegameawards coming on December 5 to Las Vegas. Variety has more details: http://variety.com/2...e-1201352339/ … T

EA seems to be one of the show sponsors.

I'd keep an eye out :)

Keep an eye out, yes, but I'd be skeptical of getting anything of substance. Yanick Roy said on the stream that we would only get more info in the coming months. And I think they said they don't even have a teaser ready yet (can't remember where I saw that one though)

One can hope though :)

One way to balance that out would be to give the enemies you encounter their own ground exploration/combat vehicles. In ME1 you see plenty of them parked, but none are ever manned and firing back at you. Geth armatures and colossi functioned a bit like tanks, but they were so slow and cumbersome than you could easily defeat them with the Mako's speed and maneuverability. Enemy vehicles just as speedy and maneuverable and with the same firepower would pose a bit more of a threat.

The thought of calling the Mako a mount is pretty funny to me. Makes me think the crew will be riding on the top of it while it gallops with its wheels.

I was under the impression the Horsepower DLC was a real thing that was going to happen post-release, Jos. Don't break my heart so soon, man.
