The thought of calling the Mako a mount is pretty funny to me. Makes me think the crew will be riding on the top of it while it gallops with its wheels.

Yeah I struggled for a word there :P

But it seems to be broadly similar to DA:I in that we're given huge exploration areas and a vehicle to run around them with.

I'm probably wrong, but it seems like DA's new horses are almost playing the same role as ME Next's Mako (and other vehicles?) in being a means for the player to go fast and cover a lot of distance if necessary. Combat is still handled by "dismounting" though, so all the vehicles are just ways to traverse the level.

It seems like you could get out and just walk everywhere on foot, but that would take a very long time if some of the environments are as big as they appear.

Will that mean... fighting Thresher Maws on foot? :o Devs might've been influenced by the amount of YouTube videos showcasing that :D

For the record, EP, I totally equate the arrival of the equines with the return of the intergalactic rover.

I used to do that. Kinda fun (though my squadmates had trouble grasping the advanced tactic of "get out of the way of the giant acidic spray before it hits you"). A friend of mine found it easy, since he played an Adept Bastion and could basically Stasis the Thresher Maw to death.

I'm not a "Gamer's Gamer" in most cases, per se, but the moment I learned there was more experience to be had jumping out of the Mako and firing the last shot off with my pistol than any turret, well, let's just say Shepard had already completed a dozen suicide missions before ME2.

Ha! Guess my Sole Survivor Engineer Shepard had enough of those beasts to risk fighting them on foot :D

I like to imagine my Shepard (also Sole Survivor) intended to exorcise her fears by defeating a thresher on foot, and then taking its head to wear as a trophy. :) Probably a good thing she didn't succeed: walking around the Presidium would have become a bit socially awkward.

Not sure what you are talking about. I've ridden my share of Thresher Maws. Usually straight into the stratosphere. :P

Yeah, doing that is the only way to get to level 60 in one run.

Today I'm announcing @thegameawards coming on December 5 to Las Vegas. Variety has more details: http://variety.com/2...e-1201352339/ … T

EA seems to be one of the show sponsors.

I'd keep an eye out :)

And I will be in Vegas that Weekend ...

... interesting.

I was a bit lame and would fight the Maw outside it's movement zones. Hills it tended to not spawn on or even near so I'd just run along the rim and snipe it.

Until I discovered shotguns. Then I just ran circles around it and watched as the poor things health dropped like a brick in water.

Whenever I was tangling with the Maws on foot, I used my sniper rifle with those high explosive rounds, frictionless X and stability X - only place I could see to use HE rounds and make them "pay off".  You could really put a lot of hurting into one shot.

The trick was to use the most powerful singelshot SR, put HE rounds and two railamps (Hyperrails or how they were called) on it and overheating is no problem cause everything was dead after the first shot anyway.

This is awesome.

My Sole Survivor Shepard always did have some... issues. And that always buzzed through my head when I took down the Maws on-foot. I'll have to remember this for next time.

Speaking of the Sole Survivor background, I hope we get to explore Akuze in the Next Mass Effect. I've always wanted to see where Shepard was forever changed.

I shot Thresher Maws with the Mako until they were sufficiently weakened, then got out and finished the job on foot, so I could get that boost in experience points. I know what's up with Mass Effect 1 Thresher Maws.

I did the same.

Though to be honest I completed almost evert side quests in ME on foot, with my sniper rifle.
