The press got review copies two or three weeks early.
But you said that "Many of the participating journalists didn't review the game or listened to the soundtrack". IMO it's weird that they nominated the game regardless.
Or it's sad that a Bioware game doesn't hold a place in Best Narrative and Best Score/Soundtrack nominations.
Not trying to belittle their achievement, Best RPG and Game of the Year is worth more than those categories in my book. Guess my comments are more geared towards the show and not the game. It's clearly off-topic though, so let's drop it, I definitely don't want this thread to be locked.

It's very hard to judge the narrative or the score of a game if you haven't experienced them yourself. Both categories favor short and flashy games that have been out for some time.
Most people in the gaming press played Destiny, Wolfenstein or South Park because there was nothing else to play and these games could be finished in 10-15 hours. If you have to constantly play all sorts of games for review, you are much less likely to play a 100h game like DA:I just for fun. When it comes to voting, you just ask your colleague, who reviewed the game, for their opinion.

TGA had my hopes up a little bit, but for different reasons(Actually had hoped EA would jump on the Star Wars hype Train and announce Battlefront 3...).
This is how I feel about the next ME due to the things i have seen and read so far(and knowing who is at the helm):

On the other hand... the possibility of a remastered Trilogy release..

There will be proper reveal in a few month, most likely at GDC.

Peril, you do realize EA has already announced a new Battlefront due for Holiday 2015, right? Or do I have the privilege of informing you?
It could be an FPS though...

Battlefront has always been an FPS. I hate playing that game in third-person.

My Xbox and I would like to kindly object
. The third person view just gave it a bigger scale. You could see more of the action. Seeing legions of troopers and vehicles (along with yourself) charging head on into combat was an awesome feeling, and one you don't get as much with a more narrow first person view.

Just increase the FOV?

Just increase the FOV?
Maybe, if DICE would even bother too include one. Still, just being able to see your character in movement is the most important thing about the third person view. Just personal preference, not for any gameplay advantage.

We're still alive. We're working hard on finishing a milestone in the development of the next Mass Effect. A lot of us are quiet because it is a pretty intense workload presently. This milestone answers a LOT if not most of the questions for us internally and works out kinks in our development pipelines. It's good news, but not exactly exciting for you guys and gals, since it doesn't provide you with apetizing new screenshots, cool trailers, or details on the game right away. Things are trucking along nicely though. ![]()
It's also full-on winter in Edmonton, and I'm sure Montreal is not far behind. I've seen a staggering -36C on my phone on one morning going into work already. Soon we will get an order of Tauntauns in, and things will be better for everyone.

And don't worry. Things are getting pretty nippy here in Montreal as well

Doesn't sound unreasonable to expect a teaser or release of info in a month or two...

"Final" main plot scheme approval?
I think they finished the main plot a while back.
Jos is probably talking about most of the main game mechanics being properly implemented and/or working now.

So... Did they make it so that the new mako doesn't do the ninety-degree wall climb? If so, this is a grand moment in development indeed. Now they know that they'll have to place things in locations accessible using the standard laws of physics which govern reality. And mass effect fields.
