I really dislike all four casual outfits in 2. The default is the least awful of the bunch. I remember really missing ME1's very quickly.

ME3's selection is mostly great though.

Michael Gamble @GambleMike

Best thing said during my milestone review with @AarynFlynn "Yep. This feels like Mass Effect"

Which one, though?

Such an analysis can be really good, or really bad  ;)

Female options weren't as good, as I recall.  No leather jacket, for one thing.  Lots of complaints about the LBD too.

For ME2, my Shep always wore the suit once I got Stolen Memories.  Almost everything else had the Cerberus logo on it, which I hated.

It was said they used motion capture from Jade Empire. I always thought JE had the best animations of any Bioware game so far and only now, 10 years later they are getting somewhere close with DA:I. Why it got downgraded when they moved from original xbox to next generation of hardware in Mass Effect is beyond a mystery.

Yep, they definitely used the animations from Jade Empire. When I played for the first time, two obvious observations were "Karth Onasi" and "JE animations", each before first meeting Pressely at the end of the ramp.

I never understood why they were scrapped, either, if all we get in return are far worse animations.

And then ME3 was full of very nice alternative armors ruined by Cerberus logos. Someone was seriously infatuated with Cerberus.

I liked the formal one in ME2 It looked good in my Shepard

While my favorite one in ME3 was ( of course ) The N7 hoodie. Following closely was the Alliance dress uniform

For Sheploo, I always wear the "Cerberus Suit" uniform, before transitioning to the formal wear suit.

For FemShep, I stick with the Cerberus Suit. The dress seems unprofessional, especially combined with her animations.

In ME3, I wear that officer's uniform pictured above. It looks good, and it mostly conceals the weird proportions of the models. I like the leather jacket outfit, too, and wish FemShep got that in lieu of that trashy dress.

My only complaint about ME3 outfits was the lack of helmets for Liara and Javik. Everything else as cool, lots of armors for the squadmates. By the way, i loved walking around the Citadel using the N7 jacket. B)

Speaking of animations, I'd like to meet the person who animated femshep walking down the sushi restaurant steps.
Sterling work there, that was.

Anyway, no more news I guess?

I always called that one the mini-Illusive Man's outfit.

Oh, yeah, the lack of helmets was really lol-worthy.  But I thought we were talking about casual outfits, not the armors.

The clothing options are extremely limited and pretty bad in all three games (and DA:I too). I hope this will change in the next ME.

The crew uniform in ME3 looked OK and practical, but it lacks a jacket. The battle dress is terrible, especially on Femshep. The dress uniform does not fit the setting at all and looks like something stolen from "Freelancer".

Can you give examples that you think would be good?

I thought the leather jacket was pretty good (especially those shoes, after so many crap shoes in the series), but outside of that it was pretty sparse.

Hopefully in the next game all squadmates will have optional helmets.

Agreed. Everyone should wear helmets as circumstances dictate. It isn't that difficult to strike a balance between realism and RP factors. DAI finally just went with "no helmets during cutscenes" by default, and a helmet toggle in the options menu. Add in "helmets no matter what" when in a vacuum or hazardous environment, like ME3 did, and that's better than any ME game so far.

I'd like the old ME helmet toggle to return, as well as having these other options in the Options menu. Clearly, it wasn't that difficult to implement in other games somewhat piecemeal. For all their tendency to cater and fan-service, the ME designers seem to disregard a lot of simple, common requests (helmet options, non-Cerberus armor textures, etc...). I hope they get it right this time.

That would be... unfortunate.

Back OT though, I'd just like a quick glimpse at the development schedule.

The not knowing is driving me nuts.

Assuming the next protagonist is military again, I think going the ME3 route would work fine. One or two versions of combat utilities, a dress uniform, and a couple of casual outfits for when you're on liberty aboard the Citadel or whatever it's ME:Next equivalent is.

The next protagonist is an N7, so s/he is military.

The meaning of N7 might've changed, though. There have been some strong suggestions that they're deliberately moving away from a Shepard-like military character.

Since ME:N will be the first "next generation" Mass Effect game, the uniforms will look like this:

Short, clingy skirts and over the calf boots?  For the chicks I think it looks ok.  The stuff that dude is wearing looks....  a bit terrible.  Its a onesie for a tennis match or something.
