The (unconfirmed) fan panel that took place in late 2013 apparently included a question from Mike Gamble about what N7 meant to all of the players there, so I think it's highly likely that N7 now means a "morale boosting nickname", and it might even be used as a way to memorialise the legend of Shepard.

I don't like the rebranding of what is only a military rank, either, but the marketing people seem to love it and I reckon it'll stay in. I think it'll be so important to the next game's story that our N7 rank will be the basis of the player character.

At the time I took that as perhaps a hint that they were exploring multiple playable races. In the multiplayer section of ME3 (which is still part of the official canon) you had special operations teams formed from members of all the species fighting the Reapers. Those teams were unofficially referred to as N7 Special Ops, even though the only people to actually have an N designation would have been some of the original Alliance personnel.

I thought they might carry that forward into a sequel and have those ad-hoc teams evolve into a standing multi-species military unit answering to the Council or whomever, with all its members going through the N program. So then you could have for example, a Turian or Asari protagonist who actually is an N7.

Or maybe I'm completely wrong.

On that note I can't wait to get some concrete info on this game, rather than trying (and probably failing) to guess what the devs are up to.

If anyone's heading to PAX South or will be in the area, it looks like Bioware will be doing a Base and some panels there.

Schedule should be up some time before the event, I guess.

I swear I spent an hour just looking around. So surreal and awesome. Hoping for more spacewalks in the next ME! Hell I just can't wait for space!

That space walk was indeed incredible. It's one of those special moments Mass Effect provided for human kind.

I was starting to wonder if they would have a presence there. I checked the PAX schedule and it looked pretty lackluster. I'm going Saturday in hopes of getting some Riot goodies. Here's to hoping I can catch something Bioware related.

Was browsing through tumblr and came across this post. Someone seems to have acquired scans from the Official Xbox Magazine of an exert about ME4.

They said it's from the most recent issue so I assume the magazine this is in is already available to us?

Edit: Found them here if people want to have a looksie http://kaidaned.tumb...y-photos-of-the

hmm. it seems to me that they just took all the stuff we already know, and smooshed it into a giant article--and seasoned liberally.

kinda like a meatloaf!

*(but thank you for sharing this, AkumaPanda. :))

I mainly picked up on running out of air without the Mako and the hints towards new species.

the running out of air is new to me. but the two new alien species was hinted at..whew..a long time ago. maybe a year, or so ago when they had this fan feed back thing and one of the fans "leaked" some things that they were asking.

but even the running out of air part seems to me to be more extrapolation based on how large the areas might be between cities and, well, it's another planet.

but srsly, i do appreciate you taking the time to post this up.

We appreciate the info, but maybe you should take them down. I don't think we're allowed scans of magazines and we wouldn't want anyone getting in trouble.

Besides, it's basically a rehash of things we already knew, minus the running out of oxygen. Thanks telling us about it though  :)

Thanks for posting this pics.

It reaffirms my worries that the developer being questioned thinks that DAI does a good job of tying Open-World concepts into a BioWare story. He says it feels "connected and natural". I couldn't disagree more with that feeling. I hope he was just throwing out a diplomatic answer because he was being "pressed", as the author says.

Yeah I'm kinda worried about the whole open world type setting. I much preferred the linearity of Mass Effect I got so bored in DAI slogging around just trying to get everything done.

Now that it is confirmed that ME:Next is also going with the partially open world approach as well, I hope the devs find a way to work that Skyrim influence in without compromising immersive storytelling.

DA:I while a good game, was not entirely successful in that regard.

I think if I had to change anything about DA:I's style, it would be to leave the crit path always accesible, instead of power-gating the missions. That way people who want to focus on just the crit path can. But I would in no way cull the ammount of side-content that game has. I for one greatly appreciate the freedom in gameplay Inquisition offers. I love how I can play the game for a whole day, get in plenty of fights, explore a bunch of areas, and complete a variety of objectives, both explicit or personal, all without making any progress on the crit path. I love how I can conceivably keep playing one profile over and over again without ever completing the main story. I get a lot more value out of such a game than something like ME3 which pretty much railroaded me through the crit path, and the only side-content was one-off missions that I could never return to.

Not saying ME3's model is fundamentally bad; it differed little from ME2 which is one of my all-time favorite games. But in both ME2 and ME3 I always found myself wishing I could just go to some uncharted planet on my own initiative, explore places there that interest me, and always be able to get in a fight without having a main quest telling me to do so. For me, one of the best things they did with ME3 was the Armax Arena in the Citadel DLC, because it helped satisfy that need I have for open-ended non-critical gameplay, even though it was such a relatively small addition.

I do hope Bioware can improve the presentation of their main story in their future titles but I hope it's not at the expense of practically unlimited open-world side content like DA:I provides.

we know they are working hard on the new mass effect for a release on 2016-2017 . it would be fantastic if the game take the best part of the olds ones : exploration from the first , the ship upgrade from second( it's change the last scene) ( the ship would be like skyhold  we could buy some interior , change color , change weapon , change shield ); and the third combat >>  all that on better form + a fantastic history like the others mass effect  and we would have a really nice game :)

We know they are focusing on exploration i hope they don't forget about the rest

I do really hope for better cause->effect mechanics. I never liked that, just to mention, one member of the team dies in the end because I didn't do a totally unrelated thing times and times before.

Decisions, to be effective, need to clearly be related with their effects.

On the other side, I'm not fond on leveling up powers: I hope there will be a switch to make it happen automaitcally.

Thx for the Info!

But IIRC, we didn't know that there would be "Skeleton alien with green eyes", just the things that resemble Golems. Also, the thing about running out of oxygen... Hmmmmmm

@Any Bioware Staff(That's working in the next ME, Lol): You guys have come up with a title? I mean... An official title that will be released with the game? Or you haven't reached that part yet? Or just playing around with the titles that can somehow tie into the game?

My guess is the name will be one of the latest things to be decided
