When can we expect to hear a release date on me4?

Not anytime soon, unfortunately  :(

I really hope you guys at bioware kept ur passion on the single player and didnt turn me into a MP game cause omg I will die.

Mass Effect is a big inspiration to me and its a world of life and exploration I live in to deal with real life problems.

God why cant todays world be like ME.

Don't worry. They confirmed it'll be a game just like the original trilogy. Action/RPG hybrid, along with a possible multi-player component like ME3. Heavy emphasis on exploration for the next title as well.

And I agree Mass Effect is the best game franchise. That trilogy, along with KOTOR, defined my childhood forever  :)

We're not gonna hear a release date for quite awhile. I guarantee you that.

And the ME world has got plenty of problems itself. Ones that I would very much prefer not having to deal with irl.

Although, I am anxious to see some substantial progress in space exploration; finding habitable planets; colonization of such planets. But I fear I'll be dead before I ever see that. Which means I'll just have to reincarnate to come back and see.

Ofc, by then we'll prolly just take it all for granted anyway. Just like we take airplane flight for granted.

/idle chatter--regardless of the thread title

Giving agency to the player should never mean that every consequence of doing something, or not doing something, is telegraphed beforehand. I feel the systems underlying choices and consequences are more successful when they're less transparent, not more.

What I mean is you should not know in advance the consequencies of your actions, but they need to be easily understood once they happen, otherwise the game seems to go randomly

The Next ME should start at Liara's death (about 1000 years after ME3), while dying she passes the torch to the new Main Character and let's the cat out of the bag...

The Reapers are back!

The concept art for the new worlds is absolutely gorgeous. Stunning stuff, if the story comes anywhere close to the quality of the artistic design, this next Mass Effect is going to be breathtaking.

I expect we'll never hear about the Reapers again - and that's a good thing.

Corrected.

ME3MP was great though. Maybe we should thank EA for that decision?

Huh, I shot myself in the foot, didn't I?

I for sure am past the reapers. Thnk god. They are dead. Time to fight the universal threat now.

O: I wonder what kind of enemy we are facing now cause this will probably be hard to do.

The next threat might not have to be Universal - and I kind of hope its not.  At least, not like the Reapers.  The idea of all powerful unstoppable kill everything omnipotent enemies was rather worn out by the end of the series.

TBH, I think that the Golem Figures will be the Enemies... My gut says so...

Also, was the whole Ark-Con thing dropped?

Is it allowed to refer to NeoGAF posts here? Somebody (who's said to be reliable) there said a Q1/Q2 2016 release is probable. And that the game is more massive than even DA:I (can post a link if you guys want or delete this post).

Shinobi and EatChildren have accounts here. They are usually pretty reliable.

I mentioned Shinobis post in the "Known Features Thread".

I think that rumor make sense.

It seems BioWare's main card for 2015 is the new IP Shadow Realm, plus DA:I's DLCs, so it's highly possible that they will push new ME to 2016, giving it more developing time, and maintain 1 big titles per year speed.

As for scale, since they are much more familiar with Frostbite now than when they were working on DA:I, plus that engine was originally used for shooting games, it's reasonable to think that they will go bigger and more badass in new ME.

Personally I think we will hear more about new ME in the months to come. My best bet right now is this year E3.

Isn't Shadow Realm pushed to 2016 as well?

Also, i don't think BioWare's various projects depend on each other. I'm sure each project has it's own budget and it's own time-linw. BioWare as a mother company doesn't depend on a major release every year per se, is my guess. The'd try to avoid major launches at the exact same time for sure so that each can get it's place in the sun but that's about it.

Well, from 2007 to 2012, they had roughly one release per year.

Mass Effect in 2007
Mass Effect in PC in 2008
Dragon Age Origins in 2009
Mass Effect 2 in 2010
SWTOR and Dragon Age 2 in 2011
Mass Effect 3 in 2012

So it has been a sort of trend, but I think they pushed the reset button with the new console generation so they van understand the new tech, come up with more and bigger ideas for future titles, etc.

But Bioware is no longer 1 company. It's several companies for a while now that share 1 mother. That's what i meant.

Not any longer, there's been some massive (very good) changes with that.

Uh.

Not to mention that Shadow Realms isn't even being developed by Bioware Edmonton or Montreal. It's an Austin project, delayed to 2017 or so.

Its development time and release date have basically nothing to do with ME or DA.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Isn't Shadow Realms one of Bioware's smaller games? Not like DA or ME.

"Bioware" has at least three different studio locations, rather than one big company that all works on the same thing.

The "Bioware" most people think of on the BSN is in Edmonton and Montreal, and they're working on ME, DA and the new IP. People switch between whichever franchise is being released next, so a whole bunch of DA people just transferred to Mass Effect.

Bioware Austin (in Texas) only worked on SWTOR for years, and now some of those developers are building Shadow Realms.

As far as I know, Shadow Realms has nothing to do with the teams making Dragon Age or Mass Effect, except that they share a studio name.
