Shinobi has been correct before, but as always we should be careful about anything that doesn't come from the developer itself.
It's remarkably easy to sound knowledgeable about something if you're constantly vague.
(I specifically remember him predicting an ME Dentist trailer at E3 last year, which obviously didn't happen.)
Shinobi gets fed stuff from people at BioWare.
Outright revealing something that BioWare wants to announce on their own terms seems like a good way to have people stop talking to you.
Sure, but some of that "stuff" has clearly been wrong. They didn't announce the game at E3 last year like he predicted, nor did they release a trailer - Yanick Roy said last year that BW don't even have a trailer ready.
I don't doubt he's been given actual information about the game - maybe even the name and setting, if it turns out to be Mass Effect Contact. But that doesn't imply every single other thing he says is 100% genuine.
Everybody is really eager to hear news about the game, but I'm just saying - even the best "inside sources" are not as reliable as official information from the developers, when it eventually starts coming.
But they weren't given technology to further their capabilities. They were given technology to ensure they developed down predetermined paths. Making them dependent on that tech.
If anything, the technology stagnated civilization.
What was the predetermined path for each civilization before the relays were built? I would be curious how long it took a civilization to reach its apex before the reapers came along to harvest them

Yep, and even the developers can get stuff wrong when they give public information. Things can change (quite rapidly) during development, especially the early stages. And everybody should be able to understand how second, third or fourth hand information can be fallible and misconstrued along its journey.
Birds are way too hard to animate, why would they do that when it's so much easier to make another bipedal species?
The raloi and the virtual aliens were invented for Cerberus Daily News to flesh out the lore a bit and introduce some new background stories - people have honestly been taking them way too seriously.
I'm pretty sure neither of them will be in the game. They were always intended to be a codex entry, and people have sort of misinterpreted how seriously BW regards that sort of stuff.
Well, the raloi were intended to be in ME3 originally but were cut due to time restriction or something.
They're a bipedal race, too - they just have avian features similar to the turians, they're not actual birds. I'm sure they'll be in ME4.

Is there a source for that? People keep saying stuff that I've never heard about ![]()

Some fan made a cool concept for the Raloi:

There's no question that the raloi weren't very well handled. The whole "we are cutting ourselves away from the rest of the world" thing was pretty hamfisted.
But it's pretty obvious that that they wouldn't introduce a new race in Mass Effect 3. It was always meant to be the climax of the story, where the things established in ME1/2 come into play.
That kinda look similar to the Kig-yar (jackals) from halo, but still interesting fan concept. Some fan made a cool concept for the Raloi:

Hmm, i never liked that concept... ![]()
edit:
the whole "we have no desire to fight the Reapers so we are destroying all our space related technology and hoping they don't see us as a threat" was kinda dumb....
But then again the Densorin thinking they could pacify the Reapers by sacrificing their children was a lot dumber ![]()

I'm actually glad they didn't introduce a new species in ME3.
I wasn't reading the forums at the time they said the raloi would be in ME3, so I was never disappointed about the raloi not being in the game.
Besides, I thought that adding the drell, collectors and vorcha in ME2 just made Bioware have less focus on the races already established in ME1, so I never liked them adding new races after ME1 (The yagh being an exception, since they were something few in the galaxy had heard of before).

I will have to disagree on that.
One of the thing that make ME universe so wonderfull are the several sapient species across the Milky Way. The galaxy would be poorer without any of those races.
Hmm, got the game last year on my android tablet... Anyway, nice find Hrungr.

The vorcha were pretty necessary.
ME1 establishes Citadel space pretty well without really featuring it. We know that Inner Council Space salarians, turians, hanar, volus have their homeworlds there (also the Krogan, but I think that that is revealed in ME2). Outer Council Space has the asari and the elcor.
Then we have the Attican Traverse. ME1 heavily features it and yet all we see are human colonies and multispecific corporations. The Traverse was meant to be the frontier, supposedly disputed between Council and Terminus Systems states. Except that we never see any Council species governments in the Traverse, and certainly no independent Terminus states. All we get is some mercenaries, pirates and Haliat's crew. The Terminus Systems were supposed to be a "a loose affiliation of minor species".
At least with the vorcha and the quarians we have a couple of species with homeworlds in the Terminus. ME1 didn't even have batarians until "Bring Down the Sky". We absolutely needed more species to sustain the universe, than the ones introduced in vanilla ME1. I'd argue that the vorcha weren't enough, and that ME2 should have introduced more.
I got so excited and then I realized it was only for iOS devices and I have Android...

I'm really hoping for this to be brought to light in ME4. With exception of the Vorcha we haven't seen a single other member of these "minor" species that make up the Attican Traverse. The way they were described by the Council in ME1 built them up as a major force for the Council races to contend with if they ever united. In retrospect you could call them the Free Marches of Mass Effect. But in ME2 it seemed to have been retconed into just pirate territory.
But with ME4 focusing on exploration and are introducing some new races I'm hoping we'll get to see at least one more of them in action. Hell maybe show us what makes them such a credible threat and how they reacted to the Reaper War.
I'm really hoping for this to be brought to light in ME4.
It's too late for that now. If there were new races, they'd be involved in the Reaper War, or mentioned in the novels or the Cerberus Daily News.
ME1 essentially retconned its own Codex entry. There is no portrayal of a struggle for colonization between the Council and the Terminus Systems at all. The Terminus Systems always seem to be portrayed as bands of slavers and pirates instead of organized states. Even the Skyllian Blitz was essentially bands of criminals, lead by Haliat and financed by Batarians, not regular Terminus armies.
The only semi-organized Terminus states which we are aware of are Omega and Garvug, and both were introduced after ME1.
We've had a couple of different topics over the last many days and while they're undoubtedly interesting, the amount of off-topicness is reaching record heights. Just a friendly suggestion that maybe a new thread is in order so we can keep the twitter thread focused on twitter content ![]()

But then this thread would be dead half of the time. Should change the thread to ME Twitter and General Discussion Thread, imo.

It's stickied, so there's no reason to bump it just for it to stay alive. That's kind of a silly reason. And you've already got the entire subforum for general discussions ![]()

True, but restricting this thread to just Twitter posts would severally cut down the amount of traffic, especially at this time, with ME4 so far away. Might as well make this a general discussion thread for the time being. At least until Twitter posts become significantly more frequent.

What does it need traffic for? If no one posts in it, it's not going to go disappear. And why restrict general discussion to one thread we we've got at least two forums dedicated to having the same conversations people are having in this thread? In fact, there are threads already about these subjects.

I wasn't saying that it should be restricted to this thread, just that it shouldn't be just a Twitter thread considering how often we like to talk about our theories on ME4. I could understand restricting it to just being Twitter-related when we're getting close to launch, but atm, we don't know anything. Would be easier to have all these theories in one thread instead of spread all over the ME forum.
Also... I haven't really been roaming the ME forum all that much since the forum update. I've occasionally popped into the ME3 MP forum, but that's pretty much it. ![]()
