well wouldn't unannounced project take priority over (for E3 reveal) MEN? New IP is probably more likely to get more press then MEN.

The new project is only just starting full production now after being in pre-production for a couple of years; I imagine MEN will come out way before their next IP.

If I had to guess, they might not even start talking about the new IP until after ME comes out (next year?).

I hope I'm wrong, but my gut is telling me we won't even get a full reveal at E3.  I'm guessing it will just be more concept and pre alpha footage.

My reaction if this happens

They are going to have to take off the wraps on this project eventually. I would be shocked and worried if all we got the same level of info we did last E3. I think we're past the point of concept art and prototype footage. This game has been baking for over 2 and 1/2 years, and I for one am dying to get a sniff  :)

I think they have to show something substantial because the EA shareholders will surely ask what's happening if BioWare just show more vague concepts.

Ok, I was being a little pessimistic.  I just don't want to get my hopes up to high and then get crushed.  I've been reluctant to buy my ticket for the hype train.  Jos, any comment on this

You should know I don't comment on stuff like this. I know that doesn't help you, and I'm sorry I can't help.

So, in other words...

SoonTM  :P

I kid, I kid. It'll be ready when it's ready (but I can still hope for sooner rather than later, right  :D )

My guess is that the best we'll get at E3 is a basic release window (e.g. Autumn 2016) and that it won't be until N7 day when we get the real goodies.

November 7th is a Saturday this year. Nobody does announcements on the weekend unless you want to bury them.

All that information about the game we got last year (the stuff we and the press have been speculating about ever since) came out on a Saturday, so it's not without precedence.

Not to mention gaming community. Round 4 of blurry concepts and blink-and-you'll-miss-it prototype gameplay wont cut it this time after last years E3 and two N7 days like that. Even if they just roll with CGI trailer and basic synopsis for the game, it's time to get it properly announced/presented.

Can't believe nobody posted this yet. So does this mean save importing isn't going to be a thing or it's just not necessary for you to enjoy and understand the game? And definitely no canon ending means what for ME4 if it's a sequel?

Means, the same thing that we all have been surmising all along.  If it's a sequel, it takes  place so far in the future that the ending to ME3 is lost to time.  (think of it as a reverse kotor, or.. star wars I guess) it's a story in the concurrent timeline of mass effect, or it's a prequel.

Nothing really has changed.  The cool thing, is that you don't have to save import.  Now, I guess, they could do something like the dragon age keep.  But I think they're going in a direction in which the ending to ME3 is not incorporated into nME.

There is no canon ending to DAO either. He's not really revealing a lot here.

I haven't played DAO, but do the endings of that game radically change the game universe, making it hard to set-up a sequel?

They radically change Ferelden.

Which we still get to visit in DAI.

I'm just saying that Mike isn't stating much here, other than their typical line about choice and consequence hasn't changed. "There is no canon."

Even if this is never entirely true, it maintains as their guidepost for designing their storylines and worlds.

For me, in Mass Effect, this can range anywhere from:

-literal --> Reapers may or may not be around (or could be rebuilt in Destroy in their own way) and may or may not be relevant (or whatever; something like this. main point is that something gets figured out)

-to --> its all a bloody 'dream' and the reality of things is different from what we directly saw in ME3

I thought it was known that save importing was going to be impossible with the move to next gen? Isn't that why they built the Keep for DA?

Bioware created Dragon Age Keep due to that.

The changes in DAO are limited mainly to Ferelden.  Since DA2 took place in Kirkwall, and DAI in Ferelden and Orlais, the impact isn't felt very strongly.  Shifting protagonists and locations with each game helps minimize the divergence of character choices.

ME3 affected the entire galaxy in a fundamental way.  I don't see how the series can continue without going AU (my personal choice), trivializing player choice, or making three completely different games (at least!)

I wouldn't put to much faith into is being considered bad news. All three ending choices can be easily written around if they wanted to make a sequel.

I don't see Bioware making an AU/reboot since it'll require them to rewrite the lore from scratch (which is something they are probably not willing to do) which will make for a fundamentally different lore altogether and the fact the franchise is still young (its mot even 10 years old) and most likely wouldn't sell well. There is also the problem of resolving plots that have already been resolved a second time which to be frank isn't a good idea is something they'll have to do.

I'm pretty confident trying to write around Synthesis would end up as an absolute disaster. Frankly, BioWare is just not very competent at this. They talked about Synthesis for three minutes, and it was an incoherent, completely unintelligent mess. What are the odds they're going to be able to talk about it for hours and not have it fall apart?

I really don't want to hear about it ever again. The ending and Extended Cut should serve as enough evidence that they just don't have anything intelligent to say about it at all.

They can just say after a while the Synthesis effect wore off.
