I actually liked that Shepard died in ME3. I'd largely avoided most spoilers but had heard that Shepard was going to die - I didn't know how though. I was sure Shepard was going to go out in a blaze of glory at first, until the depressing tone of the game became apparent but bittersweet endings can be pretty good, too, so I wasn't worried. Shepard's death turned out to be more of a "what the?" situation than I'd expected though.

Well, these are like idling animations... or ballet. Not a good sign at all!

I wouldn't call it betraying your ally, I call it doing what it takes to defeat the reapers. That's how play my femshep.

Well, I'm glad you can play that way.  I was trained by the US Navy - and we don't leave our own behind.  Nor do we shoot through our team members, soldiers nor our allies to take out our enemies.

Why would anyone be your ally if you would blast them to kill a supposedly mutual enemy?

Well, I'm glad you can play that way.

Its not hard when playing a video game

I was trained by the US Navy

I was trained by the US Army

- and we don't leave our own behind.

Nor should you and I wouldn't either

Nor do we shoot through our team members, soldiers nor our allies to take out our enemies.

I never have.

Why would anyone be your ally if you would blast them to kill a supposedly mutual enemy?

I don't know. How many of them assume that a player that do things like that in a video game would do that in real life?

Valid points, all.  I appreciate your inputs, and smile that you too have served.  At least you see my viewpoint.

Let's argue what will be shown at E3 instead and why are there no cryptic teasing E3 tweets yet :police:

We'd be spoiled if gameplay footage is shown I'd probably be in the (pre)alpha stage by then.

I'm sure we'll atleast get a basic premise and trailer for ME:N

I just hope it isn't an either or scenario with the new IP, I WANT TO KNOW THINGS :(

They could show anything at E3

They might show some screenshots and call it a day.

I wouldn't be surprised if a trailer is shown and maybe mentioning a possible release date

Getting our motions on at TheCaptureLab in Vancouver. A very cool scene for the next #MassEffect.

I guess this confirms very realistic graphics. I don't know what to say other than it just gets me excited for MENext!!!

FIFA has mocap, the movements can still be very awkward at times. I liked how Rockstar did LA Noire, with the facial capture and how well emotions were reflected there. Given that we've hit a new gen, and ME is, in a lot of respects, mostly about telling a story, I'd love to see that same level of emotion captured on the faces of the ME-cast members.

Mocap is used for animation, it doesn't really affect how the game actually looks.

And I'm pretty sure every Mass Effect game has used mocap to some extent :P

IIRC, they even hired professional pole dancers to animate the dancers in Omega's alterlife.

What LA Noire did was essentially filming the actors' faces. Not feasible method for a game with so much dialogues/cutscenes/conversations as ME, not to mention character-creator faces.

I would have loved to see the proposal for that investment.

"We need to hire pole dancers …. to add to the realism of Omega. In fact we need to all go down to that gentlemen's club right now for 'research'.  ;)

Motion capture is all fine and good. Screenshots and concept art is all fine and good but the longer they put off actually telling us what the story is about, the more worried I get.

I wouldn't worry. The later they wait to tell us about the game, the less time there is to wait between that and the game's release.

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

Fun fact: I build all my initial blockouts of level layouts with 4x4x1 meter blocks, stacking and rotating them into cool shapes. #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

It's fun trying to make spaces using just a block like that and give that space a look that players will recognize. It's a challenge. #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

For instance, what would a laboratory look like? Or a monastery? Or a ship interior? Or a village? It's a cool thing to try and do! #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

(disclaimer, my tweeting about this does not confirm monasteries or anything for the next Mass Effect. It's a general practice I do.)

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

The blockouts make it into the game, of course. When you build spaces, you do rough versions first to determine pacing and spacing. #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

But building simple spaces that at least suggest what kind of spaces they are greatly helps in setting tone/atmosphere for a mission. #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

Just empty cubes for rooms might technically work, but building spaces to actually have a function is important to make it real. #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

Do rooms connect with corridors? The structure of buildings differs radically based on purpose. Apartment complex versus car park.

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

Maximize usable/livable space versus optimize flow through the building. And look at the ISS out in orbit. Builds in every direction.

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

The early blockouts are the first real look at missions. All the missions/levels I built in ME2 and ME3 started that way. #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

Decorating with simple blocks isn't really to inform artists on what to do, but it informs the players of the early blockouts. #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

Imagine any of the missions in ME2 and ME3, and think about the spaces and the functions of those spaces used. #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

If a mission is supposed to take place in say, a laboratory, shaping the layout and spaces to give that impression helps a lot. #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

It's easier to sell a mission and a layout when the people playing through it don't have to imagine 100% what it'll look like. #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

Having to tell your boss that the room he's in is supposed to be a lab is less cool than have him walking in and going "oh! a lab" #space

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

Just a little insight into my day-to-day. :)

That Jos Guy @Sjosz

It'd be way cooler if I could just post a screenshot of a blockout type thing, but then that shows up on some news site, so too bad.

Apparently, however the "3" icon no longer links to the multiplayer profile.

Also, which game is the tower? Which game is the shield? I am assuming they are dragon age?
