Jos' response to the leaks:

I like the premise a lot! I don't like how Inquisition-y some of the gameplay sounds, but that's easier for me to get over.
Anyway, we'll see!
The premise is plot, characters, and conflicts yet again being tossed to the side in favor of...what? SimCity in space? Another protagonist who builds a one man empire by sheer power of being Just That Awesome and Because The Story Says So?
They're not going to make a good story out of this plot. It's horrible.
Jos's Tweet compels me to say a few things about the Twitter thread. This thread is very useful for helping maintain connections between the fanbase and at least some devs. I know that the Twitter thread will invariably veer into discussions about the content of things that aren't actually on Twitter, which is fine to an extent. What we don't need are a lot of posts about how "omg this thing I saw on neogaf is the worst ever!"
Why should we avoid these sort of negative posts about incomplete information? Because: HINTS AND LEAKS ARE ALL WE EVER ASK FOR. I cannot stress this part enough. We spend all of our time concerned about a lack of information and wanting more. So, what happens when an unofficial source leaks something that we don't even know is correct? We freak out over it and over-analyze ever incomplete detail.
In summation, if we want to have the privilege as an official community of being able to interact with devs and try to glean tidbits of information from them then MAYBE we shouldn't have a communal conniption fit everytime we hear ANYTHING (whether true or false) about the new game. If we act like adults the devs will treat us like adults. Let's keep the Twitter thread as positive as possible because it's our best two-way street for dev-fan communication at the moment.
This leak was only possible because of page 666 of this thread.
So you're saying that my ritual sacrifice of a shifty-looking space goat might have worked? ![]()
That all sounds like it could make for a fantastic game, but the potential galaxy switch bothers the crap out of me.
It's the path of least resistance. It's criminally uninspired.
I'm kinda with you, although I wouldn't call it uninspired just yet. Going to a new galaxy does open up new story avenues that we couldn't have had in the Milky Way, so if that's the reason behind it, I'm up for it.
However, if it's mainly to avoid the ME3 endings, I'd feel more skeptical.

I think you read a different leak than the rest of us. There's no way near enough information to already know how this story would turn out, or to paint it in the light you do.

I know that BioWare did an abysmal job writing out this scenario with a different coat of paint in Inquisition.
I know that building up your own empire is going to take a complete dump on lore and plausibility.
I know the leak spends a whole lot of time talking about how 'awesome, awesome, awesome so much awesome' the player's empire is going to be and mentions the actual plot and conflict almost as an afterthought.

I know that until Bioware says whatever from their own mouth about the game, I won't worry about what other sources say or post
That's true. It is just a rumor.
I should relax.
For now, anyway.

I will have to agree with that. Besides everything looks to much with DAI, at least on first look.
But of course we really don't know if this leak is truth or just some fan faction.
I didn't see anything in that leak that sounded at odds with anything we've been told already, so I'm not sure what the point of this freak-out is.
The premise is plot, characters, and conflicts
...have all already been resolved by the end of ME3.
Well, it does sound like Inquisition. Let's just hope that 1) BioWare learned from their mistakes and 2) this is a shooter and FB3 was made for shooters.
The game sounds cool as hell. I just hope it doesn't drop you into the character and, "Welp, have fun!" like Inquisition did. There was no intro into your character, no back story (except for two short paragraphs), there was none of that. Of course, I'm prolly gonna be so excited to play, I won't give a ****.
I just hope it's not as long as DAI, or if it is they had better put some just amazing stuff in there. I spent like 72 hours in the game (one one play through) and I was rushing it at the end. That's about the only thing that's keeping me from going back. The amount of time that's required to play through the damned thing.
EDIT : Ignore me, I'm just bitching about Inquisition again.
EDIT x 2 : Hmmm, and I was thinking about the 100's of planets. 100 planets or hundreds ('cause that's different). 100 planets would mean (100 / (on average say there are 5 planets per) 5 = 20 solar systems.
Hundreds could be anywhere from 100 to 999.
Questions. Bahhh.
2) this is a shooter and FB3 was made for shooters.
And you say that because? Considering how many EA games are using the FB3 engine it was designed to be very workable. And it's not like a engine created for a shooter can't be good at other things, I mean, Unreal.
Not a fan of the leaked info...
The story isn't really all that fleshed out in the leak, so I'll ignore that... but the other facts seem to hint at more grindy aspects. Mainly, crafting and grinding for crafting materials. I HATE that stuff, it's soooooo played out.
Obviously just speculation at this point... but 'grind' stuff tweaks my nerves. Still hoping for the best, as ME is the only game series I look forward to anymore.
I don't see an official denial as likely even if this leak is not true, especially with E3 right round the corner. Reading the NeoGaf thread, there seems to be three guys who all claim to be "in the know" about this (including Shinobi) and they are all 100%, no doubt in their minds, adamant that this is real. While they could be blowing their own horns, the rest of the posters on the thread seem to accept their "insider" status based on past insider knowledge. Also, if having bragging rights is important to these guys, I feel like they would be more cautious with their endorsements if they didn't have solid intel. If this turns out to be a load of horsecrap, they're going to look like fools.
However (not to sound like a crazy conspiracy theorist or anything
) it would be a pretty clever move on Bioware's part to spread this disinformation to throw people off the scent of the true story line and then blow everyone's mind on reveal day. That all rests on having a story that is both spectacular and unexpected (and almost universally loved) though. Otherwise people might be saying, "Huh... I actually preferred Ark Theory."
Who the hell knows anymore..?

I have no idea why they'd do this.
It would only confuse people who thought the first one was real.
The simpler explanation, if the "leak" is true, is that it's exactly what it appears to be - a marketing survey that probably had too much information. It happened with DA: Inquisition and it happens with other game franchises all the time.

To be clear, I don't think it's likely that they have done this.
BW sure learned a lot from DAI and its reception.
I for one am looking forward to a ME4 as described in the leak.
Whoops! Wrong thread.
I didn't see anything in that leak that sounded at odds with anything we've been told already, so I'm not sure what the point of this freak-out is.
My guess is that it didn't contain the phrase "Commander Shepard is brought back to life . . . again."

"The Reresurrectioning of Commander Shepard" starring Blasto and Bubin
The Remnants? Yeah, I get the name is possibly a placeholder but *sigh*. Another ancient alien culture. Not to be confused with Prometheans, Protheans, Precursors, the OTHER Precursors, Protoss, Forerunners, the Old Ones or the Reapers. The fun we shall have. Bring your own drinks. Ties optional.
At the same time, I am quite excited about this nevertheless.
