Someone just referenced Deception in a manner unrelated to our old anti-Deception topics.
This feels weird.

Nothing from Deception should be taken seriously.
I mean, the plot revolves around a DNA weapon that targets specifically the Illusive Man. And it throws literally all ME lore out the window. That book should never have been written, it's an abomination.

It was the only time I saw the whole BSN unanimously agree on something.
It was beautiful...

I always did the ME comics. They work really well into lore and timeline of the games. When ME:N comes out, I hope they make new ones

I will find utterly hilarious if this Dietz rambling become the basis for NME.
It doesn't have to be the basis, and I had a feeling a lot of people would not appreciate the reference to deception. Personally, I've read the comic books, the books, and seen the anime. They're all pretty good in their respective genre, but I find them lacking severely except for possibly revelation (I think that's the first book?). They just don't tie in to the established characters well enough. I hated the liara from the comics, anderson from deception, and the anime well.. I loved the krogan in it, but I'm a huge brogan so..
Anyway, as I was saying, it doesn't have to be the basis, doesn't have to be canon, doesn't have to be anything. I just remember seeing that concept art of a character (possibly player character) on that one planet with a star map all around them, and this one passage saying that the protheans had an egg that contained a star map to some place not within the milky way.
And what do we all love about mass effect? The protheans and their ancient technology which doesn't actually belong to them. Let's go to the stars!

What was bad about Deception in particular? I didn't any of the books personally. They were all fanfic tier and from the snippets I saw, read like a 3rd grader wrote them.

I don't know about Deception either, but the others aren't fanfic material at all. One was written before ME1 (Revelation), I believe.. before there was a chance to even have fan reception yet. It just goes into the detail with what Anderson says in ME1, on how Saren screwed him over. Ascension is mostly about Kahlee Sanders, and goes into the backstory Tali spoke of in ME2, when Cerberus infiltrated the Flotilla.
I don't know. I don't think Kahlee or Anderson qualify as "fanfic" material. lol. They're pretty down to earth.

Not surprised that he'll be working on HoloLens projects. Very interesting tech.

It also says he'll be working on games to help incorporate the tech. Judging by how successful he was at Bioware in creating stories, I'm excited to see what he can do with such immersive hardware.
Best of luck to him. Hopefully he can create more wonderful experiences like he's done so many times before

I predicted he was going to join a VR (not necessarily Rift) thing. I guess I was at least 1/2 right.
For gaming, VR may be where its at, but the potential mix of AR and VR could make a whole new level of gaming in the farther future.

I wonder if they'll ever go for the whole package. Movement and everything.
Maybe put on the gear, go run around on a football field.
You'd look like an idiot, but I bet it would be a fantastic experience.

That or read the rage comics version here: http://imgur.com/a/lAVji#0
It'll save you money and time and you get an infinite amount of hilarity over the actual book. I wish I could credit the person that made those comics but I didn't try very hard to find it.
Spoiler alert: Watch out for the giant Aria panel. It's brilliant!

If you've never read the book Ready Player One, I suggest you (and everyone else) do. That book posits some pretty feasible ideas of conceptual tech that accomplishes exactly what you said.

Bah, the nostalgia aspect was a blast. Rather have a little too much than not enough.
