Hype trains rise, evolve, advance, and at the apex of their glory, they are extinguished
Trust me, this is at the pinnacle of its evolution.

Is it weird that I still want a face to the franchise? The way default Shepard was?
And does anyone agree with me?

Agreed. Though I have a feeling all advertising will have the protagonist under helmet like DA:I.

I really hope that isn't the case. Trailers and other advertising really benefit from having a face to the franchise. ME2, ME3 & DA2 even had some great trailers, for example. So did the Witcher trailers. Plus, Shepard had a pretty distinct look. I don't want "Random generic Face preset #1 under a helmet" in those epic trailers.

Shepard 2.0 is better than random N7 soldier. It wouldn't hurt.

It has its pros and cons, though.
A lot of people treat Shepard as a male character by default because that's the way the advertising portrays 'him', but I don't think I've seen many people make that same assumption about the Inquisitor (or the Warden). And personally, the more the game sets up one permutation of a character as 'the default', the harder it is for me to put myself in their shoes. I feel more connected to the Warden from DA:O and the Inquisitor than to DA2's Hawke, because when I see custom Hawkes my brain tells me that it should be the default beardy guy.
Shepard is a bit different because the character was written pretty well in ME2 and ME3 and had a distinct personality, but I'd prefer they keep it ambiguous and just show us a helmet. There are more important things to show off in their trailers, anyway - setting and story among them.

No it is not weird... it's what makes it recognizable to customers or the general crowd. But we all know Bioware made Shepard the boogeyman of the franchise now so they do not want him/her at all or even mentioning her because it will make them like the death squad of Stalin and execute anyone asking about Shepard and crew.
Any game out there has always something which would make it recognizable in an instant aside from the plots and gameplay within it... characters are really really important.
even this guy which do not have a face has more personality and emotions than a random n7 dude

A face? Sure, why not?
Shepard's face? Hell no.

Do you choose a male or female face then?
I say put a female on the box.
For science.

The first trailer features a female and then a short time before the release have a trailer for the male. Isn't that what happened to femshep for ME3?
I like the idea of having a reversible cover, but I would have it where it ships with the female on the cover and if someone wants the male, he/she has to reverse the cover

Why can't it be the other way around? I'm all for equality, but seeing people say that the trailers should be female then have one male one before release and having a woman on the cover; isn't that the same as having a man on the cover and in all the trailers? That's not equality. But you guys don't want gender equality, you just want female superiority for some reason. Interchange the genders in the trailers/promo art and maybe have both genders on the front of the box.
And seeing as the majority of gamers are male, they're going to identify way more with a male character on the cover and trailers. The people obsessed with playing as women are a vocal minority, gotta thing about the wider audience that EA is pandering to.

In this day and age where more people get their information via the internet and youtube it makes no sense not to just have a trailer for each.
As for the game's release itself, a reversible cover for people who still buy physical copies and probably just the male version for trailers that air on tv. For E3 I fully expect just the male version as well, they're constrained by time with that so it's more about showing as much as possible of the world and gameplay itself, if we get a female version it would be if they have show floor videos.

Yeah, EA isn't going to mess with their marketing just because it would be "interesting" to see what would happen.

Do you have something against a woman being shown on the cover of a video game? Was it fair showing maleshep in those trailers and not having a couple those for femshep before ME3 was released?
