It's not just that. As I said, the long wait combined with patch releases on past ME games is what made me doubt they'd release a new patch.

They said one was coming, which isn't something they'd do if it wasn't going to get here eventually.

Yes, they're not very good with the patching. But at least they haven't given up yet (though I don't expect much beyond this coming patch, except for content fixes that the team can sneak into future DLC).

DAO even received a patch after DA2 was released.

Origins received a patch because their authentication server went bonkers and locked new PC players out of the game (they couldn't authenticate any of their stuff, and therefore couldn't play). They fixed the server after a few days, but they decided to also divert some resources to incorporating the newer authentication code (from DA2) into the PC version (it was only a patch for the PC version, and it still took months and months and months). (Except for a bug that was causing the game to freak out with newer hardware, the patch changed nothing else.)

"If you could change one thing about #ME3 Multiplayer (large or small) - what would it be?"

Eh, lots of things, big and small. But just one thing, right now? Free to play. ME3's multiplayer is, in the current state, the foundation of a free to play game. Only it has a gateway of having to actually buy a full, primarily single player game, of which is the third entry in a three part series.

As it is, the multiplayer should really be released as a free, stand-alone client for PC, Xbox 360, PlaySation 3 and Wii U. Keep the updates free, and follow a similar business model to Valve, making profit through money purchased packs (these might need revision as the current drop rates make monetary investment really unappealling).

Every single multiplayer game that has ever existed requires an active community to retain popularity and, in turn, a flow of money to the developer/publisher. No exceptions. The whole philosophy of multiplayer is multiplayer. The harder you make it for people to play, the less incentive there is for people to buy the game, the smaller and less active your community is. And that in turns means your profit margine decreases, and there's less incentive to keep supporting it for those who are still playing.

Mass Effect 3: Multiplayer is a free to play model hoarde mode trapped behind the gateway of a third-part single player full priced game. It really should be F2P so that more people will jump in and, in turn, give those who are still playing a bigger community to play with. It's win/win for BioWare, EA and the gamers.

That's a really good suggestion @EatChildren! You should tweet Mike that, I'm not sure he follows this thread.

I think it's safe to assume that they're always watch--

(I like the free MP client idea, if only because if it's successful enough it's the kind of revenue stream that Valve and Activision have, and Bioware seems to lack - look at the comments of one of the executives a few months ago. More reliable money would free up more resources for gaming, perhaps even some innocative or radical projects.)

My suggestion for multiplayer is to add more game modes, I mean horde is great, but you can't just play horde mode forever and expect it to last, you gotta have variety.

Make a PVP mode where you fight against one team whose indoctrinated and one whose not, make it last for like 20 minutes and whoever scores the most kills wins.

Make a mode where you play as the enemy faction and try to stop 4 OP characters from completing objectives, have the reapers be the announcers instead of the marine guy. Each milestone wave can have the enemies either use stronger weapons or have more of them spawn.

Hell, just add a new enemy class even, maybe more variety of enemies.

Just do something that adds to the goddamn experience and isn't garunteed to stagnate.

I would suggest a faster way to join games you have been invited to. It's very annoying when you are in the multiplayer menu and have a character selected, that it then takes you through the main menu, then makes you select a character, and then joins the game. This is for Xbox 360. I don't know if it is the same on other platforms.

For a game like ME there is too much work to be done with a PVP mode (everything would be unbalanced). You're better off just doing Co-op missions/horde missions.

However, a new faction and possibly actual Co-op missions would be a lovely addition that would help the multiplayer last longer.

It's the same on PS3. And yeah, it's cumbersome.

future things only mean single player content but I wonder why they would need a patch when they can just us dlc to change things.

No, they don't, but I was thinking there might be inconspicuous coding in there that is necessary to do certain things with future DLC. /shrug
