I'll just leave this little nugget here and go back to work

tumblr_nq0a4rm0f61tkkjqso2_r1_1280.png

You should check out this thread for stuff people have found already.  Did you know that that female might be a Vanguard?  Or that there are a metric fuckton* of giant beetles throughout the trailer? These are just two of the several things that have been spotted.

Michael Gamble ‏@GambleMike

There's a lot of details to be found in that trailer. Have fun...

CSI: BSN can kick in now.

Oh, and a nice teaser in-engine.

The location is clear, and set long after the trilogy, so no chance of recurring characters (I'm calling Matriarch T'Soni if there are any).

Still a long way away, so calm thoughts, but good to see BioWare taking the time to do a good job.

Looks like Fallout 4, Tomb Raider and Dishonored 2 (among others) with have to keep me occupied
(alongside a little DAIMP).

Still interested to see if a trilogy remaster is officially dead with the Xbox news, but let's see.

And as we expect, inb4 whining about the game's location sight unseen.

Sounds like a good step to me.

Get off your high horse and stop telling people to get off their high horse.

The high horse is a flogged dead horse,

pointlessly repeated until we are hoarse.  ;)

I'll be surprised if it doesn't get delayed at least once to March 2017.

Not too dissapointed, i had hoped we might get to see some old squad regardless if Shepard was around but that seems almost impossible unless they came to Andromeda too. Time will tell i guess but i wont get my hopes up...too high anyway :P

Still confident BioWare are gonna create an awesome story noentheless, looking forward to whatever tidbits of information that get thrown our way :D

People think it is the Krogan squadmate the leak referred to.

If so, the female running to the right and slightly in front of the N7 guy (who apparently isn't the protagonist) might be Cora. The leak mentioned two squadmates, one of which was named Drack and a Krogan. The other was named Cora but her species wasn't identified.

Whether or not the female character in the teaser is named Cora, it seems like she is human. Her helmet isn't slightly elongated like an Asari's and you can see a human skin tone through her visor:

So much for "familiar faces" like Bioware said there would be. Just another lie I guess.

Not necessarily.

Assuming they get there on an ark you could put previously established characters on that ark. If the ark leaves during the course of the Shepard trilogy obviously it couldn't be any character who was on the Normandy in ME3, but you could have familiar faces like Matriarch Aethyta, Lorik Qui'in, or Gianna Parasini.

Can we just call it like it is? ME:A will be released in Q1-Q2 2017.

I liked it in motion but this looks very pre-alpha (which it is, but still). I don't really dig the visuals too much. It's just DA:I frostbite graphics all over again and I was hoping for something more than that. The Mako looks bad too.

That release window inspires confidence that DAI did well enough to make the corporate oveelords conclude that giving BW more time does indeed pay off. A welcome change of pace with regard to Ubisoft churning out two AC games per annum.

http://arstechnica.c...fect-andromeda/

From the Article^

"The idea of having the slate wiped clean, so to speak, is very attractive to both Flynn and Walters; Flynn mentioned that it’s long been a regret of Walters that they spread the Mass Effect story far out over the entire Milky Way galaxy, with the game’s galactic map showing a civilization that appears to stretch from arm to arm without too many unexplored nooks and crannies.

"With Andromeda," said Walters, "our goal is to start that at a much smaller scale—though the scales are still massive—and give you a sense that there is much more to explore, rather than saying ‘here’s the whole galaxy.""

Might be just the Helius Cluster (from the leaked info) we will only be exploring after all. Wonder if this is the start of a new trilogy?

That may be a typo on the author's part ("with" as opposed to "without"). That was not a direct quote from Mac or Aaryn.

At the end of Mass Effect 3, it really /does/ look like all of the galaxy is part of the Council's civilization. I don't really see any references to 'Unexplored Space' beyond the Mass Effect 1 codex entry either.

I think the operative word is "appears". They're talking about how players felt when looking at the Galaxy Map, where you could easily zip around from one end of the galaxy to the other. There was little sense of a frontier to explore. Getting back to that would certainly tie in with the trailer's Western theme.

EDIT:  'ed.

This.

Even if we explore throughout the Milky Way, we still have an established setting where X space is 'Council Space', Y is 'Terminus Systems', and Z is 'Attican Traverse'. Each sector 'works in a certain way', even if Bioware had us see all sorts of pre/early spaceflight societies and investigate existing species (though we can still do this in MEA...) more, etc.

Bioware could either desconstruct and rebuild this understanding (and yes, I'd have preferred that and I support the idea), or they can go to another out of the POSSIBLY INFINITE galaxies and try out with more of a clean slate. Gamers can decide to accept this design decision or not. And it doesn't mean we never return to Milky Way, but like Ferelden in Dragon Age after DAI, it isn't likely we spend a lot of time there again any time soon. Again, we can accept that or not.

Just as DAI expands players' understanding of reality in DA with the green rift breach and raw fade explorations, MEA may expand players' understanding of the expanse of space and what one could find not just in the Milky Way galaxy, but in the galactic cluster/universe. Again, it doesn't mean we will never ever return to Milky Way.

I get the feeling of 'fun field trip' with this game's tone. Conflict and possibly war, but not necessarily extinction neigh (again, at least in tone). Most gamers and indeed most fans will probably be cool with this, but I understand some need either a complete reboot to feel satisfied, or want immediate and full resolutions of ME3 (see: ITers), not anything that even remotely looks like a distraction from that.

EDIT: What I've been against in the past, is the core 'Ark Theory' concept alone. That is, the exact idea of the Council sending out an Ark Ship without anyone elses'/Shepard's knowledge, finding super duper tech, and having a main story almost purely about preserving humanity, even while its saved in the literal interpretation of nearly all the ending options of ME3.

Its just weird.

But there's a lot of variations and weirder or more unique takes on things that could make this all work. And I'm certainly not against the 'establishing frontier presence' feel of things, though it isn't my favorite and I'll try to do any missions/content that deviates away from that. I want to discover secrets, not be space cowboy.

But honestly, space cowboy in this Mass Effect setting does feel more appealing to me than space marine. I'm done with being the Commander. Not done with aspects of him, but I'm perfectly fine with no longer being him.

N7 can mean a lot of things, and I just hope Bioware embraces many of the meanings - this could include Shepard, somehow. But I'll leave it at that.
