While I'm happy for Jos, I think Maverick will escape again. It seems like Jos made some big mistakes that created a traumatizing environment for one of his cats. They are very territorial and one will eventually leave if they don't get along. They won't work this out.

Whatever happens, Mass Effect 4 would be a richer experience if it measured success by the relationships you make, rather than the lives you end.

I read "relationship" not only as romance, but as every bond you can make with other characters. That's what most impressed me in the trilogy.

It should not be a pure shooter where you count casualties, in any case.

Romances are great at fleshing out a fictional universe and making it feel more real. (no pun intended)

I do agree with you on this but we can not deny that romace is a selling point for this game. My first Shepard ws Jane no romance at all up to ME 3. Felt so real and authentic. Second play was John and romanced Tali, now I did like Tali but after some time... it came back to haunt me.... it felt weird and it creeped my out. I feel more comfortable seeing Tali and Garrus together.

Also seeing gamers discuss who to ****** with next feels... god darn creepy too

I feel all Bioware games sorta have a niche when it comes to humanizing and making the story real through characters and your relationship to them. Mass effect has always been better at that than dragon age too. Want to understand the geth/Quarian conflict, there is Tali/Legion. Cerberus? Well Miranda/Jack. The Genophage? Wrex/Mordin. All important aspects of the world are made important with characters that make you understand the conflict.

 

I mean its a fine action/exploration game, but many games have that, no one has relationships and humanization at your own pace like Bioware games.

Haha, this reminds me of the time ACIV Black Flag was leaked by somebody sitting behind an Ubisoft employee on a plane and seeing the marketing slides they were viewing on their laptop.
