"Ugh. F*cking aliens." --@The1Wynn
They create a surprising amount of work to support in the game.
Well, according to this article, we know two things about the new IP:
1. That it's completely new, built from the ground up so they could have a clean design foundation, so no Star Wars.
2. That it's made to tell "contemporary stories" (whatever that means), so probably no cyberpunk? (Though that would have been cool, I know Mr. Gaider is a big Shadowrun fan.)
Thanks for the link.
Edit: Hm, I didn't realize Casey said way back in June 2014 that the next ME would be set in a different region of the universe, as the article states. I remember fans speculating from the galaxy map shot, but I didn't know Casey actually said that.

If it's an MMO and I have to subscribe, they can shove it. I'm still playing Path of Exile and it's free and I can play it with a mouse too!
On the other hand, how can you say it's a new IP if it's Star Wars?
A Cyberpunk game is new (for me) different and possibly exiciting.
Yeah, I wasn't thinking that technically about it. I did a cursory glance at "new IP" and just read "new game". It was like 2:00, or 3:00am where I was at the time.
edit: Tbh, I thought Bryan was just some fan. I'm not familiar with him. I don't recall seeing his name before, but he has alot of posts under it. I glanced at his name and his post, and thought he was just another fan having casual conversation. I didn't take his statement too seriously.
Apparently, however, he is a QA? Mostly been over on the MP boards.
Regarding the new IP, judging by the concept art and "contemporary" stories my guess is post apocalyptic.
Think Fallout without the nuclear war. Probably something biological, maybe a nuclear accident, or an asteroid. Either way, I'm betting on post apocalyptic setting. Still have no idea what to expect, but going from DA:I's structure.. I'd bet open world-ish? Not truly open world like fallout, but pseudo open world like DA:I.
I'm excited to see what it is though. I've loved bioware games so am definitely interested. But I cannot stand open world, just my opinion. I can't even play DA:I because of it.. all my friends have beaten it on multiple playthroughs, and I can't even get 1/4 of the way through.
I'm interested to know abt this new IP, but I thought they would be focusing on ME:A a bit more.

Idk, the concept does not look very post apocalyptic to me. It looks more like changing seasons. I vaguely recall Casey saying something about a dynamic world, something that really changes over time--could be wrong abt that, though.

Yes the majority of BioWare resources are now on ME:A but there is and have been a healthy amount of people on the new IP

Well, actually I meant as far as marketing and releasing more info to the public goes. I thought the focus would be more on promoting ME:A although it is still some time out. I imagine the new IP is even further out? Although, it seems they've been working on it for a awhile now.
But hey, the more games the merrier. The more info abt those games, the merrier, too.
Thanks for the info.
Non-human protagonist options?
*chants "Oh please" repeatedly*

Marketing and more info undoubtedly you are going to see more from ME:A than the new IP. Notice how there was no mention of it at E3 this year. Going back I have no idea what Mr. Warner is alluding to, all I stated was he was on the new IP (doesnt mean he isnt promoting DA or ME). ME:A has been a "concept" longer than the new IP in terms of having a sizeable team behind it.

Yay!
EDIT : I dunno. I dunno what it could be, but I do have to agree with gamermd83, in as far as I think that they're coming out with a couple'a new IP's.
One as the existing code for Shadow Realms (whatever that is) and this new one.

Shadow Realms was being made by a completely different studio based in Austin Texas.
It's also been cancelled. Bioware Austin's staff is now helping out the other teams on Dragon Age and Mass Effect. I don't think we'll be seeing that IP again.

And that's too bad. I thought it was a great idea. Although, I had zero interest in a browser based game.

It wasnt a browser game
What was it then? Because that's what I heard. Was it PC only?
edit: it was being developed for microsoft windows. online only.
meh.

Think it was a standalone executable.
But I'm not a BioWare dev, so I can't say.
EDIT : Also, I'm thinking my recollection of the events that went on around the Shadow Realms release was just that it wasn't "fun" enough. Kind'a like the whole TF2 thing, whereby a complete newbie could get in the "commander's seat" (an actual idea floated by TF2 developers at the time). And that they were taking it back in to redevelop some ideas.
I could be totally wrong, and if I am, please... Point me at a link.
Eh. So basically nothing to talk about in the ME:A thread. Except perhaps for Jos alarmingly slipping off into the darkness of #Space.
Reading his tweets is like watching Space Odyssey .

My tea leaves reading regarding Bio's game release cadence reveals the following:
2015-2016 - marketing mostly for ME:A
2015 - Some announcement regarding the new IP. maybe one or two
2016- A couple of new announcements on the new IP + news about post DAI
2017 - marketing for new IP
2018 - New IP launch + news on a possible post DAI release date.

Heck, I'm enjoying this little repertoire between you and this BioWare guy.
