Reid Buckmaster@ReidBuckmaster: Welp, today was my last day at the ol' BeeDub. It has been an amazing ride since Mass Effect in 2007. Thank you, #BioWare, for everything.
Reid was one of the developers that interacted most with the fanbase before the release of ME3, sad to see him go.

Welp, seems like I'm in an infinite loop of not being able to go online on Origin, and ME3 MP refuses to work without Origin being online.
don't you like...work at BioWare or something? Can't you get it fixed
Oh, you.

I must admit that's sort of weird. There are three of them. The list would be kind of short. Seems unnecessary.
EDIT: Ah it was a survey, nvm. It's interesting.

Personally I feel ME2 has aged poorly in comparison to how ME1 has aged, because whereas ME1 is still as original but hampered by glitches and stuff, as it was back in its day, ME2 is just such a Gears clone and seems to just be part of that sea of TPS shooters. I think ME2 has the best cinematography but the more times I play them, the less amazed I am by ME2 whereas ME1 always finds some way to surprise me, and I gotta say, ME3 has a lot of hidden variable flag checks throughout so that I also keep seing stuff I missed every time I play through that.
I went into signing the survey knowing the result would annoy the **** outta me, but at least ME3 wasn't the best. I am okay with ME2 being the best. It has a nice vibe and I've had many a great playthroughs with it, but I really wish they'd give more credit to ME1. The written content of the article is also really superficial and I had hoped they'd picked out some actual comments from their survey... I mean, what was the point of us having to write in the "please explain why" box if PCgamer didn't even read it?

Those who favored the original Mass Effect cited the story and the sense of adventure. "It was rough around the edges, but the world was amazingly detailed," said one survey taker. "It was high-concept Proper Science Fiction, amazingly non-human-centric, with a real (if occasionally annoying) sense of scale to the zones. Shep was competent and dedicated, but basically just the right (hu)man in the wrong place, not The Chosen One. It was really, really refreshing and different and interesting."
Dang, I didn't write that response, but I could've...

There's a second page with a bunch of comments for each game that you might've missed
or are you talking about more in-depth comments or something?

I'm not really surprised. Survey here on BSN landed the same results.

I was hoping for a bit more, but I did indeed miss that there was something in there.

So, two surveys with same results.
If the ME:A (writers and Directors) team up and agree on the findings, I hope they can pick up the best parts from the games, polish them and add more. Plus, avoid developing all the worst parts.
ME1'a Mako is a "worst part". The poor controls were exacerbated by the fact that terrain exploration was mostly across mountains and escarpments. Whoever thought of that and the "managers" who agreed with that should have their monrning beverage privileges withdrawn.
Interesting was the female romance stats. Two aliens and one butt attention grabbing human female. Again, I say if Bio managers are smart, they will go with what works...

Mako is the worst part - that's why they improved it. No word on romances yet, though I expect less catsuit this time.
"Just pick a planet and go there" - Casey.
Exploration for the sake of exploration has never worked so far in ME, it was especially bad with the Mako. They have a lot of improving to do to make this work since this mako exploration will be the main feature. If they fail, it will be Inquisition in space.

Tbh, it worked in ME2. The drawback was that the locations were too small. Have larger "open-world" locations with different content and interesting missions like ME2 and you'll have a great exploration mechanic. The key is not to have loot as focus, not be repetitive and make the actual exploration process fun of which Mako driving is a large part.
