@user: @The1Wynn @masseffect any familiar faces in Andromeda?
Chris Wynn@The1Wynn: @user story wise, it wouldn't make much sense.
Does Chris realise that this tweet will create twelve months of hysterical outrage?? ![]()
(I'm excited for a completely new slate of characters though, ME3 did feel like Shepard was improbably bumping into the same two or three dozen people)

I'm rather happy about a fresh start.
I know people love them, as do I, but I definitely have Mass Effect character fatigue. There's only so long you can tap a story well before it gets stale. The less story overlap (including characters) between this new game and the past MEs, the better for the quality and longevity of the series, in my personal opinion.
EDIT to add: Of course, consistency is important, style and tone, etc. I still want that unique Mass Effect feeling. But I think consistency is more important than continuity.

I wasn't expecting major characters to return, but I was hoping for some minor characters to show up again as a way to connect the two stories.
I disagree. The less the stories are connected, the more it harms this franchise as a whole.

@LadySif7: Hi @The1Wynn Will we have an emotion wheel for some dialogue choices in MEA, like we did in DAI? Sorry if this has been asked.
@LadySif7 hasn't been asked but can't answer that one yet. Sorry!
@The1Wynn I understand. Thank you for the response! I'm really looking forward to MEA!
@The1Wynn I am curious, does the trip to Andromeda begin before, during, or after the Reaper War?
@GamedamMeister can't answer that one yet, sorry.

I dunno why I'm so giddy about the prospect of new information, either. It's a brand new game. It's not likely they will be dumping tons of info on our heads about story elements. I'd love to be proven wrong on this, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

Why would it harm this franchise only?
Because we are discussing the Mass Effect franchise, thus the use of a singular term.

Except it won't. Again, the months of hysterical outrage you saw with ME3's ending had more issues that the ending not being pleasing to "fans".

@schlerf should we expect to see a lesbian companion this time around?
@otterhoopdreams @moonlesbians Can't talk re squad mates yet, but trust me that getting the right balance of characters is Job #1 for us.
This already makes me roll my eyes. I like the idea of inclusiveness, but I feel it's working against the respect of narrative to create characters based on sexuality, and before anyone says I'm putting words in their mouth, he says "it's our #1 job" to create the right balance of characters. Do I need to explain any further?

Maybe they create the characters, then insert the sexuality. Unless of course you are under the delusion that all gays are the same personality....
I'd say your line about all for inclusiveness is a lie if the very first thing that comes to your mind when you see this post is 'They are creating a character specifically to be gay/lesbian/bi'.
After all Shepard could be any of those things and could have variant personalities, so it is hardly unrealistic for them to create a character then, later, realize that character would be better if they were gay/lesbian/etc....
