I get it. The Cluster is BIG.

But, how BIG is Bio's interpretation of HUGE? Is it the distance between solar systems? Is it the number AND distance between systems? Is it the volume of space measured in light years?... say 2,000 LY in diameter? Is it the number of planets we can explore with the Mako?  Does "Space is #@$%^& Huge" equate the number of fetch quest for Remnant tech caches?

What has "Space is &#$%  HUGE" got to do with the main story arc?  Nothing? Is it just the area designated for exploration?

In other words, is "the game is Huge" the only reason for this game? In other words, some meat about the story and companions and the problems facing humanity is more useful than .."this game took 24 hours to download..." or this HUGE game takes 20 minutes to load.

My preference is Bio coming out with something like " humanity's attempt to gain a foothold in the Cluster by establishing flourishing colonies is met by stiff and hostile resistance from the Khet.  The need to find resource rich worlds is vital if mankind is to succeed in this Cluster..exploring the Cluster is thus vital." . It makes exploring "Space is @#$%^&* Huge" much more reasonable.

My 2.5 cents.... Peace

It has 10X more stars, and is 2.2X as large. It's a lot more dense in terms of solar systems than the Milk Way. HOWEVER, we don't know if there will be mass relays.

Ian S. Frazier @tibermoon

Let it be noted, @GambleMike will drag himself through broken glass if that's what it takes to get this game done and top quality.

I actually do believe this.  Hopefully there's not too much gravel and/or broken glass along the way.

I would be more inclined to listen to the content of people like yourself if you got rid of the 'awesomeness' shlick.

It mirrors a lot of what BioWare has done staggeringly wrong the past few years. With not too many signs of improvement, frankly.

You ever hear the advice that exclamation points are like laughing at your own jokes? Kind of the same thing.

I hope there are Mass Relays. Won't be the same without them.

FTL drives would have to be past Reaper status to traverse Andromeda in a reasonable amount of time without them.

ME: Andromeda is supposedly set in one star cluster, not the entire galaxy. We moved between clusters using FTL in ME/ME2/ME3.

Also, doing it this way probably means they don't have to make the consequences of choices affect the entire galaxy, which was arguably a problem that they ran into with ME3:

http://arstechnica.c...ect-andromeda/

"Flynn mentioned that it’s long been a regret of Walters that they spread the Mass Effect story far out over the entire Milky Way galaxy, with the game’s galactic map showing a civilization that appears to stretch from arm to arm without too many unexplored nooks and crannies.

"With Andromeda," said Walters, "our goal is to start that at a much smaller scale—though the scales are still massive—and give you a sense that there is much more to explore, rather than saying ‘here’s the whole galaxy.’""

Imo Mass Relays should remain a feature for the Milky Way galaxy. I would like different stuff in MEA, stuff where I can say "yes we are totally in a different galaxy, far away from home".

A cluster that according to what the leak says about how many stars and planets are there would have to be absolutely massive, larger than conventional FTL can do efficiently.

And that quote is still absolutely ridiculous reasoning. "We established that only 1% of the Milky Way is explored, but clearly there are no nooks or crannies to explore in that other 99% of the Milky Way.".

It'd also make sense for more planets to have life if the reapers were never apart of the equation. There would be 180K or so cycles without reapers wiping them out. Also take into account that Andromeda is much more dense than the Milky Way. The clusters are closer together, and there are more of them. So traveling to 5 or so clusters would take less time than in the milky way, and they may hold more life even.

I wouldn't mind if there were a couple of Mass Relays that have been set up, at great cost, between the most important systems (likely based on technology from the Conduit). But I definitely hope that "normal" FTL is the primary means of transit across the cluster. Keep it feeling big and empty. Make the time taken in travel actually matter.

The Game is set in the Helius / Helios Cluster (my understanding). As such,  any reference to "this game is Huge" is really only in the Cluster and is the setting for the game (ie: not the galaxy).

Unfortunately a Cluster can be small ie: Coathanger Cluster -->  http://www.astronomy...5567.jpg?mw=180    or very large > 100K stars.

My point is that Bio keeps twitting cryptic references that make no sense due to contextual absence. If the purpose if such tweets is to generate interest / hype for the game, then I see them as a FAIL. Certes, I see them as such.  On the other hand, if I take the comment "space is @#$%^%& huge" and then place it next to the teaser cinematics star navigation map, I can understand what he may have been thinking.... which, from that viewpoint, does make sense.

I'd much prefer diary tweets that cryptic ones. ^_^

It'd also make sense for more planets to have life if the reapers were never apart of the equation. There would be 20 million or so cycles without reapers wiping them out. Where did you get  the number 20 million from?

Roughly a billion years, with a cycle every fifty thousand years (give or take) would only be about 100,000 cycle.  Still a lot though

Yes it is a lot. I'm just curious where the number 20 million came from unless the poster meant 20 000

According to this: http://www.space.com...es-massive.html the MW is twice as massive as Andromeda.

Help us raise money for Extra Life. You can donate to our team here.

You don’t have to be a Spectre to save a life. Help us here at BioWare provide care to sick children in our communities by supporting Extra Life.

This year, the Extra Life marathon falls on N7 Day, which happens to be our favorite day on the Citadel. To celebrate, we’re hosting a marathon community playthrough of the Mass Effect 3: Citadel DLC on Twitch. Decisions will be based on input from the chat, so you decide whether Shepard brings their best Paragon or Renegade attitude to the party. We’ll also have a bunch of prizes to give out, all in an effort to raise money for local Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

FemShepsmall.jpg

We hope to raise $10,000 with your help, and BioWare will match donations up to that amount. You can donate to our team here.

Stay tuned to the BioWare channels on your favorite social media throughout October for more information, as well as ways you can win cool Mass Effect and Dragon Age swag for helping out a good cause.

Well, so much for an info drop on N7 Day. It's great that they are doing the Extra Life charity, but that's all they are doing from the sound of it.
