If the new protagonist is a N7, any further urging by Bioware about how the new character isn't Shepard 2.0 will be laughable.
I can kind'a see both sides of the coin. My opinion?
"As we awoke from our sleep, we found that we were wearing these uniforms. None of us could remember anything about who we even were. Thankfully, they each had names printed on them. Some of the uniforms said N7, some of the Asari were wearing battle armor although it said nothing of the sort. Some of our names were Harrison Keyes, Balin Gutterson, Conrad Verner. So we decided that we were part of some military. But what does N7 mean? We didn't know. But here's our chance to forge a new meaning."
