The team that was sent in a gigantic vessel (which takes years to built) with advanced technology (that would have been really helpful during the war) to another galaxy? During the events of the trilogy when hardly anybody believed the Reapers were coming?
Sounds highly unlikely.
A contingency plan would be very useful in a war that nobody expected to win ![]()

Probably because few bother to stay up to date with Microsoft's OS marketing strategies or bother to Google the info before replying.

The trilogy takes place between 2183 and 2186. The earth government doesn't believe Shepard and doesn't prepare for a war. There is no contingency plan and all available resources are allocated to the war effort and the construction of the crucible when the reapers attack earth.
Humanity has only a handful of dreadnoughts in 2186 and not the capabilities to built the ship from the trailer in a few months.

No, you said it was "a perfect example of a console centric game".
That is jumping to conclusions.

And yet there's an Ark and it makes a conventional journey to Andromeda. Welp

Nothing wrong with speculation. It's just simpler for ME:A to be a stand alone game with no past baggage.

From reddit: [THEORY] ME:A's protagonist will be called "Ryder/Rider", after the first American woman in space, Sally Ride

Sounds plausible. "Riders in the Sky"

The asari councillor does talk about plans that need to be put in motion after Thessia falls, actually.
And not telling Shepard about an ark project until the war is underway doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.Since s/he (apparently, according to the trailer) gave a speech to the explorer(s) before the end of the war, we have to assume that the Commander knew about it outside the part of Shepard's life that we saw during ME3.
Is it an awkward way of moving the setting to Andromeda? Probably. But a secret ark program that few people knew about is a heck of a lot more preferable than not trying to explain the move at all.
Plus, as we've seen from this trailer, an ark that only goes one way does allow for some really cool throwbacks to the first stages of human space exploration.
